On Newsmakers with @tednesi.bsky.social and @timwhiteri.bsky.social, I discussed my focus on responding to Trump admin chaos over the last 32 days. From budget cuts to funding freezes to mass firings, we must keep asserting our values as we push back against their terrible actions.
Community health centers like East Bay Community Action Program deliver essential services for patients across our state.

While Republicans work to slash Medicaid’s budget by at least $880 billion, I’m standing in solidarity with providers and patients who rely on this critical program.
Ceding firing authority to Elon and DOGE only disrupts critical functions and harms our ability to track storms and keep Americans safe from extreme weather.
Alongside RM Zoe Lofgren and @rephaleystevens.bsky.social, I'm calling on Secretary Lutnick to protect Commerce Department employees carrying out key national security and public safety roles.
As Trump seeks to cut critical NIH research funding that finds cures and saves lives, I spoke with Dean Jha at Brown U about standing up for scientists & medical researchers.   I’ll continue working in Congress to restore these funds and end the brazen attempt to stifle innovation & public health.
At my annual discussion with the New England Council, I spoke about my work to protect critical programs from cuts that would harm the American people. After the program, I sat down with young professionals to discuss why it’s never been more important to get involved and stay engaged.
Today, we solemnly remember the victims of the Station nightclub fire in 2003. As a community, we keep their memory alive by comforting the survivors, showing gratitude for the first responders, and working to prevent a similar tragedy from ever happening again.
Thank you to the RI chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for your advocacy with our office this week. While President Trump proposes drastic cuts to NIH funding & Alzheimer’s research, I’m working to unlock support for RIers living with Alzheimer's, their loved ones, & those working on remedies.
At the Peck Center in Barrington, I spoke with seniors about the potential impact that the Trump-approved and Republican-passed budget resolution would have on them.   It’s simple math — they can’t pay for $4.5 trillion in tax breaks without hurting Rhode Islanders.
In RI, Veterans and people who give back to our country and community are getting pink slips thanks to Elon and DOGE. Firing these public servants isn’t about cutting waste — it’s about dismantling our government and disrupting the lives of everyday Americans. turnto10.com/news/local/f...
Yesterday, Trump says he won't touch Medicaid or Medicare Today, he endorses the House GOP budget resolution that opens the door to billions in cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and the Affordable Care Act. The math isn’t mathing.
In Congress, there is bipartisan agreement that Putin is a war criminal — yet for reasons unknown, Trump is siding with him over Ukraine & our allies in Europe.   I joined CNN to discuss how Trump demonstrates weakness and satisfies Putin’s wish list by excluding Ukraine from the negotiating table.
My Republican colleagues could have joined @housebudgetdems.bsky.social and supported my budget amendment to protect Medicare. Instead, they’re plodding ahead to not just “touch” — but slash — billions of dollars in health care for children, seniors, and Americans with disabilities.
Trump: "Look, social security won't be touched, other than fraud."
Trump is telling the American people to just trust that his billionaire DOGE buddy won’t have a conflict of interest with the agencies he’s gutting. These same agencies that have billions in contracts with Elon’s companies. I don’t buy it.
SWAN: DOGE and SpaceX employees are now working directly at the FAA and DoD, agencies that have billions of dollars of contracts with Musk's companies or regulate them. How is that not a conflict of interest? TRUMP: Well I mean, I'm just hearing about it
As our friends stand together to support Ukraine’s fight for freedom, President Trump is excluding them from negotiations about their own future. We can’t let Putin dictate the terms and hand over the victory that he’s seeking.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov meet for talks in Saudi Arabia. Follow live updates.
Real people will suffer if Republicans succeed in slashing $880+ billion from Medicaid. 🏥✂️   🚨In RI this would put at risk Medicaid coverage for: 20% of adults ages 19 to 64 36.9% of all children 64% of nursing home residents   This is the opposite of putting the American people first.
The GOP budget fails to prevent 4 million Americans from losing health coverage by the end of the year. A 60-year-old couple in RI earning $82,000 a year would see their yearly premium rise by over $14,000. That’s not a typo! This is a betrayal to the middle class. Full stop.
It’s essential our nation remains committed to supporting our allies abroad. It was my pleasure to welcome Australian Ambassador Kevin Rudd to Newport today as we discussed my work on @houseforeign.bsky.social to strengthen our countries’ partnership. 🇦🇺🇺🇸
The Trump—Musk administration is betraying our Veterans.    20 years of service & 4 tours of duty all to be terminated from a Veterans Affairs hospital by some DOGE interloper.   Entirely unacceptable treatment for those who have sacrificed so much for our nation.
DOGE in practice: Disabled Army veteran who has 4 kids and did 3 tours overseas is fired from his job at Bronx VA hospital
