At East Bay Community Action Program, I shared how @housebudgetdems.bsky.social are standing up to Republican proposals that seek to cut $880 billion from Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act.
There’s no good reason Elon Musk and his band of misfits need your personal banking and taxpayer information. Thankfully, @housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting back. Our Taxpayer Protection Act would prevent reckless and unlawful interference nation's payment systems.
Elon Musk's team is expected to be granted access "imminently" to a system that houses sensitive taxpayer information, source tells CNN
This Presidents’ Day, ‘we the people’ must remember this foundational lesson and the legacies our presidents have left behind as we continue the pursuit of a more perfect nation.
Trump’s indiscriminate purge of federal workers will not make Americans healthy and decimates our ability to combat disease. More people will be at risk because of the wrecking ball being taken to our health and food and drug safety agencies.
The US health department fired employees Saturday across some of its biggest agencies including Medicare, Medicaid and the FDA. trib.al/99QFCR9
More winter weather is on the way this weekend, Rhode Island❄️ Our state will be under a weather advisory with difficult travel conditions expected. Please use caution on the roads and check for updates from NWS Boston and Rhode Island EMA.
In 1778, the First Rhode Island Regiment answered the call in the fight for liberty and independence — paving the way as our new country’s first integrated military unit. I’m proud to join @whitehouse.senate.gov in reintroducing legislation to give overdue recognition to these brave individuals.
Because NLRB Member Gwynne Wilcox was illegally fired by President Trump, workers across the country face delays in getting relief if they’re exploited at work. 264 of my colleagues — on both sides of the aisle — agree: we need to #ReinstateWilcox.
ICYMI: Donald Trump issued an unprecedented and illegal attack on the National Labor Relations Board by firing a Democratic Board member. He’s blatantly violating the law to attack workers’ rights. That's why we led 265 bipartisan members calling on Trump to #ReinstateWilcox
Trump’s illegal foreign aid freeze is a disaster for humanitarian relief efforts, farmers, & our partners who expect America to keep our word. This ruling confirms the haphazard decision needlessly put Americans in harms way, wasted taxpayer funds, & hurt our national security.
NEW: Donald Trump's effort to gut foreign aid programs and sideline thousands of USAID workers have now both been halted — at least temporarily — by judges who say the rush to implement them may have violated laws. w/ @joshgerstein www.politico.com/news/2025/02...
I’m leading 152 of my @housedemocrats.bsky.social colleagues to demand answers on Trump’s illegal cut to NIH research funding. American innovation makes us the envy of the world — we can’t afford cuts to programs that cure disease, grow jobs, and sustain local economies.
There you have it. Every Republican on the Budget Committee just exposed our middle class to higher costs, Medicaid recipients to benefit cuts, and gutted programs that feed kids. All this betrayal to cut taxes for their billionaire friends. That’s it, that’s the headline.
The GOP budget fails to prevent 4 million Americans from losing health coverage by the end of the year. A 60-year-old couple in RI earning $82,000 a year would see their yearly premium rise by over $14,000. That’s not a typo! This is a betrayal to the middle class. Full stop.
The proposed Republican budget resolution lays to rest the idea that lowering costs for working Americans is a priority. How could they? In #RI01, their plan would eliminate $1,150 in savings on energy bills and gut programs that increase home values between $9,800 and $23,000.
