In President Trump’s economy, the dream of homeownership has slipped further out of reach. Thanks to his reckless trade war, construction costs have been driven up by over 6%—adding nearly $11,000 to the price of a new home. @ushousefsc.bsky.social is fighting to ensure everyone can afford a home.

Trump and Elon want to dismantle the federal workforce. We’re standing up to defend it! Join us on the North Lawn of WWI Museum & Memorial at 10am THIS Saturday for a press conference and rally to protect the public servants who keep our country running!
“Sixty percent of builders said their suppliers have already increased or announced increases on materials prices because of tariffs” As families struggle with the cost of housing, President Trump’s chaotic tariff taxes are only driving up prices. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
As I said with @repchrispappas.bsky.social and dozens of others @housedemocrats.bsky.social last month: we won’t sit back and watch the president raise energy costs on American families. We’ll keep fighting to protect LIHEAP! cleaver.house.gov/media-center...
LIHEAP plays an essential role in keeping energy costs down for low-income families across the country. While it’s deeply disappointing the president would work to defund this program, @housedemocrats.bsky.social will fight to protect it for hardworking families.
Trump admin budget document calls for the elimination of LIHEAP -- which helps low-income Americans heat and cool their homes thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/5255650-trump-administration-considering-low-income-home-energy-assistance-program-elimination/
During National Nurses Week, we recognize the hardworking and caring nurses in #MO05 and all around the country. Thank you for your dedication to your patients and commitment to providing lifesaving care at every stage of life.
As America faces a housing affordability crisis, renters are struggling more than ever. Rather than fighting to lower housing costs, the president is working to gut federal housing programs by slashing 40% of rental assistance. It’s cruel and dangerous. www.npr.org/2025/05/02/n...
I believe Missouri’s teachers deserve a well-earned pay raise for the invaluable work they do in our communities—which is why I’ve supported legislation like the American Teacher Act to increase pay. I’ll keep fighting for educators across #MO05! cleaver.house.gov/media-center...
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to every educator in #MO05! Our nation is a better place because of the work that you do every day to teach the next generation and equip them with the skills they need to succeed. Thank you for all that you do!
Following the tragic mass shooting in Uvalde in 2022, Democrats & Republicans came together to provide mental health resources to schools & students across the country to combat school shootings. The Trump Administration just cut that funding to pay for more tax cuts for their billionaire buddies.
URGENT: The Trump admin just cut $1 billion in mental health resources created by Republicans & Democrats to stop school shootings. This will hurt our kids and make them less safe at school. The funding must be immediately restored.
In 2020, Congress established the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, here to support you 24/7 by text, call, or chat by dialing 988 or going to 988lifeline.org. This Mental Health Awareness Month, remember that you are never alone. 988lifeline.org
It’s okay to not be okay. 1 in 5 adults in the United States experiences mental health challenges. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we recommit ourselves to ending the stigma and choosing hope.
As the president works to fund another tax break for his billionaire buddies, paid for by gutting programs that American families rely on like Medicaid & SNAP, he thinks families should learn to do more with less. It’s more failed trickle-down economics that puts the wealthy over working families.
Trump: "I don't think a beautiful baby girl that's 11 years old needs to have 30 dolls. I think they can have three dolls or four dolls ... they don't need to have 250 pencils. They can have five."
“More companies are starting to warn that they will have to pass on higher costs to American consumers, raising prices for products like strollers, mattresses, power tools and cast-iron cookware as President Trump’s tariffs take hold.” www.nytimes.com/2025/05/02/u...
President Trump is illegally attempting to defund PBS and NPR—where roughly 160 million Americans find their fact-based, nonpartisan news each month. This is yet another step in the authoritarian playbook to silence any and all attempts to cover the administration accurately and truthfully.
In an executive order, President Trump directs the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to stop funding NPR and PBS, the nation's primary public broadcasters.
