“One of them is a 4-year-old with Stage 4 cancer who was deported without medication or the ability to contact their doctors, the family’s lawyer said.” The cruelty of this administration is a moral stain on America. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...
This is what we’re used to seeing in third-world banana republics. As the Trump administration continues to trample over the Constitution and the rule of law, it’s critically important that Republicans in Congress and on the Supreme Court join in the fight to stop this lawlessness.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested a Milwaukee County Circuit judge Friday, FBI Director Kash Patel said on social media, accusing her of helping an undocumented immigrant avoid arrest. cnn.it/3RwAYZH
The president’s tariff taxes are incredibly unpopular and causing unnecessary economic distress to families and small businesses across the country. Congress can put an end to this at any moment—but the GOP must stand up to the madness.
Consumer sentiment plunged 8% in April as Americans continue to dread a recession and rising inflation due to Trump's tariffs, survey shows
I applaud the courts for blocking this attempt to cut funding from schools with diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. While the GOP is fighting to defund public schools, Democrats are working to ensure every American has access to a quality education. apnews.com/article/trum...
The Trump Administration’s push to defund Head Start is yet another example of the GOP’s ongoing effort to gut programs that working class families depend on to fund more tax breaks for billionaires like President Trump & Elon Musk. It’s dangerously shortsighted. www.kansascity.com/news/politic...
Nonprofits play an essential role in supporting the most vulnerable members of our community. Thank you for sharing your stories and the stories of those you serve. Together, we must continue to push back against the chaos and defend the federal investments that are making a difference.
Yesterday, I sat down with Pawsperity and nearly 50 nonprofits in #MO05 to hear their concerns about the elimination of vital federal grants and their worry about cuts to programs like SNAP and Medicaid, which will limit the work they can do to support Missouri families.
On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million innocent Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust. Let us honor the lives brutally taken by recommitting ourselves to fighting back against hatred and antisemitism in all its forms. #NeverAgain
This week, I spoke with students from Pembroke Hill about the importance of public service and how young Americans can get involved. Young people have always created the change they want to see in the world—and I look forward to the progress that will be made thanks to these future leaders!
As the Trump admin works to gut the Social Security Administration to undermine Social Security, I’m thankful to @martinomalley.bsky.social for meeting with seniors in #MO05. The American people are standing up to say “hands off” our earned benefits—and we’ll keep standing with them in this fight!
The president’s across-the-board tariff taxes are already disrupting supply chains—which will lower supply and increase costs on everyday goods that American families depend on. His chaos and recklessness continue to create completely avoidable self-inflicted economic pain.
"He was told that shelves will be empty": Big retailer CEOs warn Trump that his trade war will cause consumer disruption within weeks. ⁦‪‬⁩@marcacaputo.bsky.social @berkowitzbt.bsky.social www.axios.com/2025/04/23/t...
While Republicans want to convince Americans that immigrants are the cause of the challenges facing our communities, the top 0.1% of Americans now control a record share of wealth. And the GOP is working to give another massive handout, paid for by gutting critical services like Medicaid and SNAP.
The wealthiest have gotten richer, and control a record share of America’s wealth. Total wealth for the richest 19 U.S. households jumped to about $2.6 trillion in 2024, the biggest one-year increase on record.
I was grateful to meet with NKC Fire Chief Williams & local fire chiefs throughout the region to hear about the impact cuts to the National Fire Academy will have on our communities & emergency preparedness. I’ll keep fighting to ensure these heroes receive the resources and support they deserve.
After igniting a trade war, crashing retirement portfolios, choking supply chains and small businesses, increasing costs, and destroying consumer confidence, the President is tipping his hand that he plans to fold after getting no concessions. The art of the deal!
Exclusive: The Trump administration is considering slashing its tariffs on Chinese imports, in some cases by more than half buff.ly/ZepELcz
The GOP know state budgets cannot fill the hole that their cuts to Medicaid would create. In Missouri, the proposed cuts to Medicaid & SNAP would blow a $2 BILLION hole in the budget, costing more than 20,000 jobs—all for another tax cut for billionaires. missouriindependent.com/2025/03/26/m...
Austin Scott previews how House Rs plan to cut Medicaid: "The federal govt is paying 90% of the Medicaid expansion. What we've talked about is moving that 90% level of the expansion back... nobody would be kicked off Medicaid as long as governors decided they wanted to continue to fund the program"
Enabled by Congressional Republicans, President Trump enacted the largest tax hike on American families and businesses in decades—and it’s having predictably harmful consequences. It’s time for Congress to end this dangerous experiment.
Breaking news: The global economy will slow sharply this year, weighed down by Trump’s imposition of the highest import taxes in more than a century and the cloud of uncertainty that has billowed in their wake, the International Monetary Fund said.
