Today’s report leaves me with no more confidence in the Secretary & his ability to lead our servicemembers.
I am calling for his immediate resignation. In the coming days, I will use every tool at my disposal to hold him accountable & restore the public’s faith in those who lead us.

When I want to discuss top secret, classified information with my colleagues, I do so in a secure facility – not on a Signal chain. After initial reports of this national security breach, I called for the firing of Secretary Pete Hegseth and thorough Congressional oversight.
This was a rookie mistake that could have had dire consequences for our servicemembers who put their lives on the line for our nation every day.
Disclosing sensitive, nonpublic, operational information in an unapproved, unsecure network – hours before execution – created great additional risk to U.S. missions.
Today’s report independently confirms what many of us suspected: Secretary Hegseth’s reckless actions put our servicemembers in harm's way. By the grace of God and without the professionalism of one journalist, this situation could have been far worse.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I’ll be breaking down the situation, what it means for our servicemembers, and what Congress is doing in response to the Administration in today’s edition of Sarah Explains It All.
Since September 2nd, the Trump Administration has carried out 21 strikes on alleged drug-smuggling boats in the Caribbean and East Pacific – without Congressional approval and due process – leaving us with more questions and concerns than answers.
Due to a change in the Congressional schedule, today's live conversation will be postponed due to votes. We'll be posting the new date and time here shortly. Stay tuned!
We’ll be going live at 3:30 PM ET TOMORROW, December 3rd, @RepSarahElfreth on Instagram. Don’t miss it!
In our first edition, we’ll be joined by my Lowering Costs Caucus colleague, Congressman Tran of California, to discuss common-sense legislation that Rep. Tran has introduced to make life more affordable for our neighbors.
That’s why I’m excited to announce a new series – Sh*t is Too Expensive – where my friend @repjuliejohnson.bsky.social and I sit down with colleagues from across the country to highlight ways House Democrats are working to lower costs for hardworking families.
With the holiday season coming up, we’re hearing one message from our constituents now more than ever: Sh*t is Too Expensive!
And many challenges, like affordability and gun violence, are larger than Annapolis itself. The work ahead to deliver for our constituents won’t be easy – that’s why I’m grateful for the enthusiasm & commitment of Mayor Littmann & the City Council to deliver for Annapolis. Welcome to Team Maryland!
We have many shared priorities and a shared obligation to face the opportunities and challenges together. Some challenges, like quality, dignified, affordable housing, are decades old. Others, like flooding and extreme heat, are new.
Congratulations to Annapolis’ 138th Mayor, Jared Littman, and our new Annapolis Council on their official swearing in! Team Maryland is more than our federal delegation – it’s composed of thoughtful and diligent public servants at all levels of government.
➡️We are just about to start our virtual town hall with fellow Maryland freshman @repjohnnyo.bsky.social! In ONE hour, you can join the conversation on Facebook, X, or YouTube to listen and leave your questions in the comments.
We’re only one day away from our virtual town hall with @repjohnnyo.bsky.social happening TOMORROW at 7:30 PM! There’s still time to RSVP & submit your questions at the link below. We’ll be covering a range of topics from health care to federal workers to housing!

Led by Chairman Mike Rogers and Ranking Member Adam Smith, my colleagues and I on both sides of the aisle will exercise our full, bipartisan Congressional oversight powers. A comprehensive accounting of these operations – and their legality – will be our top priority.
After receiving multiple classified briefings on these operations in the Caribbean over the last few weeks, I am left with more questions than answers.
