When authoritarians go around Congress, ignore the courts, and try to impose their unlawful policies on all of us, we must stand up and fight back.
We the people will use our collective power to protect democracy.
Trump wants to cut off a four-year-old girl’s life-saving medical treatment so that he can deport her. It’s beyond cruel.
How does this make America better?

As immigrants are being kidnapped, disappeared off the streets by masked men — it is more important than ever that we conduct oversight of the detention centers where they’re being held.
Stay tuned for updates.
Here at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma to conduct oversight — a duty we have as members of Congress. We will keep you posted.
At my town hall, constituents were worried about cuts to research happening in our district and how that will impact our ability to innovate and cure diseases.
I'll continue fighting to ensure our research facilities get full funding and are able to do their life-saving work.
At the end of the day, what does this all boil down to?
Making life easier for billionaires and Republican donors, all at your expense. It’s one giant betrayal of the American people. prospect.org/blogs-and-ne...
Section 112029 repeals a tax on gun silencers that has been law for nearly a century.
Make no mistake: this will make mass shootings worse and cost lives in our communities.
Section 43201 bans states from passing laws that regulate AI and requires any law that currently does so to be repealed.
This is a federal overreach and only serves to consolidate political power and influence among billionaires and Republicans’ big donors.
Section 70101 gives ICE $45 BILLION to build new immigrant prisons — that’s more than 13 times ICE’s current detention budget.
It also allows for the indefinite detention of immigrant children and charges families $3,500 just to reunite with their child. Beyond cruel.
Section 70302 allows Trump and his administration to continue ignoring court orders by making it much harder for a judge to enforce a contempt-of-court citation when an official defies them.
It makes a mockery of our checks and balances, and is almost certainly unconstitutional.
Section 112207 terminates Direct File — the IRS program (passed by Democrats) that gave Americans a simple and free way to file their taxes.
Trump and Republicans are getting rid of a wildly successful program so that tax prep corporations can charge you massive fees and rip you off.
Republicans’ bad budget bill would rip health care away from 14 million Americans and force 3.2 million people off of food assistance.
But this big, beautiful betrayal also includes other policies that almost no one knows about — and they're just as terrible.
Let’s unpack some 🧵
It was so fun to sit down with local Girl Scouts this week to talk about our system of checks and balances as they pursue their Democracy Badges!
Trump’s effort to coerce states, cities, and towns into enforcing his immigration policies is both bad for public safety and an unlawful overreach.
Our communities cannot be bullied into submission by this authoritarian administration. My full statement:
Medicaid pays for 64% of births in Speaker Mike Johnson’s home state of Louisiana.
Yet Republicans are trying to slash the program and take away health care from 14 million people — all to give a tax cut to billionaires.
I spoke with residents at Ballard Landmark Assisted Living about what the Republican budget bill would mean for Medicare and Social Security.
This budget bill betrays our seniors — and I will continue to fight it.
The Trump administration officials who are *making up* scientific studies to try and prove their conspiracy theories cannot be trusted with your health care, period. www.notus.org/health-scien...
Welcome to Seattle, Seattle Police Chief Barnes.
It was great to have an in-depth conversation about the threats to public safety and the need to keep Seattle a welcoming and safe community for all. I’m looking forward to our work together.
Trump and Republicans are facilitating the largest transfer of wealth from poor and working people to the rich with their budget bill.
How? By kicking 14 million Americans off of their health care to give billionaires a giant tax cut.
I joined public health leaders in WA to discuss how we can fight back against Trump’s reckless cuts to public health and foreign aid.
These cuts have serious impacts — and I will continue fighting to ensure their life saving work can continue.
