Unlike my Republican colleagues, as an elected official, I will never forget who I serve — the people.
Together, we will continue to stand up to Trump’s big, beautiful betrayal of American families.
Last night, I hosted a town hall in Burien, where over 300 people showed up to make their voices heard! This is democracy in action — and I’m so grateful to represent such an engaged district.
Last night at my town hall, there was a common theme to many of the questions: Trump and Republicans' budget bill.
This bill is a big, beautiful betrayal of the American people — and I will continue to fight it as it goes to the Senate.

It is ridiculous that the richest country in the world does not provide universal health care to all of its citizens.
The United States can and must do better than having millions uninsured and millions with crippling medical debt.
Rümeysa Öztürk did not do anything violent. She does not pose any sort of national security threat to America’s interests.
She wrote an op-ed — that’s literally it.
Missing a single Social Security check could mean rent doesn’t get paid or there’s no money for groceries.
Trump and Musk’s dismantling of Social Security will mean longer wait times, less help, and missed checks.
When Republicans give tax cuts to the rich, that money goes into stocks or offshore accounts — not back into our economy.
When Democrats expand SNAP, Medicaid, and other basic needs programs, those dollars get invested back into our small businesses — benefiting all of us.
This will hurt America and Americans.
Hope someone inside the administration has a brain and shuts this down. www.politico.com/news/2025/05...
Today on Memorial Day @repmarktakano.bsky.social and I visited the Fort Lawton Post Cemetery to honor the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Thank you to all those who serve this country.
Thanks to Toshiko’s leadership, the Port of Seattle seamlessly runs a world-class seaport and international airport, partners in building road and rail infrastructure, and leads crucial environmental and sustainability efforts. Thank you, Commissioner Hasegawa!
Toshiko is the first ever Asian American woman to serve on the Commission in its 110-year history. Driven by her strong commitment to equity and civil rights, Toshiko works tirelessly to advance the Port’s environmental and economic goals to benefit our communities and businesses.
As we continue to celebrate #AANHPIHeritageMonth, I want to highlight another AANHPI leader in our community — Port of Seattle Commission President Toshiko Hasegawa!
If Trump and Elon Musk are trying to find waste, fraud, and abuse, I’ve got somewhere to look: Medicare (Dis)Advantage.
These programs ripped off taxpayers to the tune of $83 billion last year, all while providing lower quality care and worse outcomes. They’re a sham.
Undocumented individuals pay BILLIONS in taxes every year.
When Trump uses the IRS to conduct immigration raids, he breaks that trust — disincentivizing people from paying their taxes. It’s bad for our economy and our country.

I met w/ King County Exec Shannon Braddock and King County Metro GM Michelle Allison to discuss their lawsuit against the Trump admin’s attacks on transit grants.
I’ll keep working closely with them to support their efforts, while prioritizing long-term investments in green technology.
There was simply zero need for masked, armed, unidentified agents to kidnap Rümeysa Öztürk off the street.
It was a blatant intimidation tactic by an authoritarian administration, plain and simple.
Work requirements hurt poor people AND are a waste of money.
Arkansas spent $26 million on administrative costs for work requirements — and saw no increase in employment.
Georgia’s program cost $40 million in one year — 80% of that went to administrative and consulting costs.
Trump’s ICE has detained a Washington State legal permanent resident returning from vacation who has lived in the U.S. for 28 years.
These attacks on those with legal status are unacceptable and must stop. Release Maximo Londonio NOW.

As Trump ships innocent people off to South Sudan, El Salvador, and Mexico, he’s also ignoring judges who are ordering him to stop.
These wrongful deportations must end. I offered an amendment to freeze anti-immigrant legislation until they do.
Donald Trump is making everything in your life more expensive.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
