What else is hidden in Trump and Republicans’ Big Bad Betrayal?
$170 billion for ICE to eliminate due process and supercharge their cruel and often illegal kidnappings and disappearances. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...
Two judges appointed by Trump just ruled against Democrats’ “Click to Cancel” rule — a rule that would have stopped corporations from trapping you in subscription cycles.
This will make it harder for you to cancel unwanted memberships and subscriptions.
Trump and Republicans’ Big Bad Betrayal: taking away your health care so billionaires can buy private jets. www.forbes.com/sites/dereks...
Democrats are standing up to say that DHS and ICE’s treatment of immigrants is unacceptable.
What have DHS and ICE done in response? Manhandle, assault, and arrest.
The Trump admin is moving to end TPS for Honduras and Nicaragua.
It’s another attack on our legal immigration system that will impact countless lives and force those who have been here for decades to return to dangerous conditions in their home countries. My full statement:
ICYMI: @frost.house.gov and I introduced the Housing Not Handcuffs Act — a bill that would prohibit the criminalization of unhoused people on federal land.
We should be working to help the most vulnerable people in this country, not persecuting them. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
Trump and Republicans are undermining all of our LEGAL immigration pathways — cancelling student visas, revoking TPS, and terminating parole programs.
Make no mistake: they oppose all immigration.
Trump is attacking our entire immigration system and immigrants of all statuses — cracking down on free speech, conducting illegal third-country deportations, and sending innocent men to a foreign gulag.
This is authoritarianism.
Republicans think they know better than EVERY SINGLE MAJOR MEDICAL ASSOCIATION when it comes to gender affirming care.
They want to have full control over your kids’ medical decisions.
ICYMI: Last month, we broke ground at the Vashon-Maury Community Food Bank’s new site — a project I proudly secured $800,000 in federal funding for.
I can’t wait to see this project come to life and the impact it will have for so many families on Vashon. www.vashonbeachcomber.com/news/food-ba...
I’ve been holding shadow hearings on Trump’s illegal immigration actions — first on third country removals, and then on arrests at immigration courthouses.
Because if Republicans won’t conduct an ounce of oversight on this authoritarian administration, we will.
Trump’s White House is demanding I apologize for saying that ICE is acting like a force of terror.
But they are. They’re kidnapping innocent people, deporting them with no due process, and have zero accountability.
The White House needs to apologize to the American people.
All Republicans can do about this bill is lie — because it’s TERRIBLE.
I’ll be honest: this is a dark moment for America. But we will keep fighting — for justice, for freedom, for health care, and for a better country that allows everyone to thrive, not just survive.
MYTH: “We’re prioritizing the economy's future and decreasing our debt”
FACT: This bill adds $3.4 trillion to the national debt over a decade.
MYTH: “We are making America great again”
FACT: Billionaires are the only people that will see “great” benefits from this bill. Kids will go hungry, people will go bankrupt just trying to go to the doctor, nursing homes will shutter, and rural hospitals will close.
MYTH: “This bill is good for the working class — we aren’t taxing tips”
FACT: This policy includes massive barriers to entry that will exclude MILLION of tipped employees from accessing this “benefit.” Plus it expires in two years.
MYTH: “This bill will improve our immigration system and make Americans safer”
FACT: Your taxpayer dollars will go toward funding for-profit detention centers, the deportation of U.S. citizens, and the suppression of free speech and due process for immigrants of all statuses.
MYTH: “We aren’t cutting Medicaid, we are eliminating the abuse of Medicaid by enforcing work requirements”
FACT: No one chooses to be unemployed to qualify for Medicaid. Disabled, sick, and low-income Americans need Medicaid to survive. People will die because of this bill.
MYTH: “We are kicking undocumented immigrants off of Medicaid. No U.S. citizens will lose coverage”
FACT: Undocumented people do not qualify for Medicaid. 17 million people — the vast majority of whom are U.S. citizens — WILL lose their health care because of this bill.
Yesterday, Trump signed Republicans’ Big Bad Betrayal Bill into law.
While they lie to the American people about what this bill does, let’s do a quick fact check on some of what they’re saying 🧵
