USDOT has awarded more than $19 Million in new RAISE funds for Glass City Riverwalk. This brings to $44 Million the federal investment in transforming the Maumee riverfront for all to enjoy! www.13abc.com/2024/06/21/1...
Toledo's Lang Railyard is an important component of Canadian National’s transportation network. Visited with Toledo Fire to view safety and first response measures and discuss the facility’s economic impacts.
For 159 years Juneteenth has celebrated the official end of slavery in the US. This day is a reminder of the long fight for freedom, all of the progress we have made, and the work we must continue to do to make good on our nation’s original promise of Liberty and justice for all.
Today we commemorate #Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when news of Emancipation finally reached all enslaved people in Texas, 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation had freed them. This was a pivotal moment in American History which finally became a National Holiday in 2021.
The heat in NW Ohio is no joke. Make sure to drink plenty of water, stay cool, and find the shade when you can. If you need somewhere to cool down, many cooling centers have opened. Find out where by clicking below:
Many thanks for all the kind birthday wishes. Spent some time in the garden today before heading out…sharing the beauty of NW Ohio in gratitude.
A local gardener friend and neighbor dropped off these homegrown roses today. What a Spectacular exhibit of the arable land in our Lake Erie freshwater Kingdom!
Happy #FathersDay to all Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, godfathers, brothers, and uncles across NW Ohio and our country who set an example every day. You do what is needed without being asked. I hope you can take it a bit easier and enjoy your day.
It was a pleasure to visit the USDA Farmers Market on the National Mall, which is a “living laboratory” for farmers market operations across the country. It offers an opportunity to more than 30 farmers, ranchers, and producers to sell their products directly to consumers.
Ukraine is fighting valiantly to regain its freedom. But today I wish to highlight the sheroes of Ukraine, its women. These Ukrainian women work hard, in the fields and farmsteads to feed their families, neighbors, and nation. During war, and during peace.
Happy #FlagDay! As we honor the symbol of our national freedom and unity, I am honored to represent the resilient and patriotic Northwest Ohio community. Let us all come together today to celebrate the Red, White, and Blue.
Sadly, we must honor the memory and passing of Morgan Williams who had the utmost commitment to Liberty. He truly understood the precious potential of Ukraine to our world. May his legacy inspire us all to strive for a free and prosperous Ukraine. Rest in peace, Morgan.
Pleased to welcome the Toledo Regional Alliance to Washington, to continue our work together and bring investments back to Northwest Ohio. Through local and federal collaboration like this, we can achieve great things.

I'm grateful for bipartisan efforts by the Appropriations Committee in past years, which were a hallmark of our Defense Subcommittee, but I'm unable to support this year's bill. It clearly fails to meet our immense responsibility to Liberty and our armed forces in defense of the American people.
NW Ohio is home to thousands of jobs in solar manufacturing, but if we allow China to keep cheating the system they could be at risk. Senator Sherrod Brown and I led a letter urging the ITC and Department of Commerce to investigate these unfair practices. Thankfully, the ITC has heard our call.
Great to meet with members of the Air Line Pilots Association, from Ohio and across the Midwest including my former colleague Congressman John Boccieri. I will always stand with our men and women who keep us safe in the air and keep our people moving across the country and around the globe.
Thank you Donna and Jeff Heck of 33 Forever, Inc., NAMI, University of Toledo Medical Center, and members of our NW Ohio community for the partnership to break ground on Dani’s Place for those in our region battling drug addiction to receive the transitional care they need.
An honor to join Erie County Health Commissioner Pete Schade to dedicate the Kaptur-Rogowski House new Behavioral Health Transitional Supportive Housing in Sandusky. This marks a significant step forward in our efforts to provide critical support to those in need.
Delicious visit to Toft Dairy & Ice Cream Parlor this weekend in Erie County — Toft’s is Ohio’s oldest dairy. In operation for five generations, the Sandusky, Ohio dairy started in 1900.
