Also glad to help return $265K in tax payer dollars the people ofFremont, and Sandusky County through a USDA Communities Facilitates Award. The nearly 16,000 NW Ohioans who use the Fremont Community Recreation Center will see improved accessibility, and facilities upgrades.
Joined the Fremont Multiple Sclerosis Walk this weekend to support those raising awareness while battling this terrible disease. As one of 87 members of the Congressional MS Caucus, know that we stand with you in this fight not just for this day, but always.
#NationalPoliceWeek, couldn’t have come soon enough as House Republicans have spent the past year trying to cut local law enforcement budgets. Current Republican Study Committee plans threaten to cut funding for nearly 30,000 law enforcement jobs nationwide.
When American workers are allowed to compete on a level playing field, they win. It’s high time the Administration goes after China for circumventing trade rules, exploiting workers, and dumping inferior products on the US market. What America makes and grows, makes and grows America.
In the wake of the American Rescue Plan, localities have new resources to invest in hiring and equipment upgrades. We've seen dramatic reductions in crime, but still have more to do together. I'll continue to work across the aisle and find solutions as part of the "Big Middle."
I welcome House Republicans efforts to prioritize law enforcement this week — in NW Ohio, we've brought home Millions for first responders for new state of the art radio technology, new patrol cars, and additional training to help those suffering from addiction and mental health crises.
Wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and grandmothers in Northwest Ohio, across the Buckeye State, and throughout our nation. Their love and labors enrich lives and build community in countless ways. We lift each of you up today and say thank you. #MothersDay
In Northern Ohio rail is the spine of our regional economy. Great to speak about transformative federal investments we’re making with funds secured through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the vision for the future of rail across our region. #NationalTrainDay #ToledoOnTrack
Glad to host the National Association of Realtors and members from Ohio Realtors and NW Ohio Realtors this week to talk about shared priorities and ways we can work together on the federal level to benefit NW Ohio. We all agreed that we need to make real investments in creating livable communities.
NW Ohio mourns Charles Welch, known far and wide as “Charlie Chuck.” He spent years in radio, and founded The Juice FM 107.3, which became known as “The People’s Station.” He believed if you have a “good idea about a dream, think of the three P’s: Prayer, Perseverance, and Patience.”
Tonight I voted against Rep. MTG’s sad attempt to shut down your Congress again. We were sent here to find the “Big Middle,” and work across the aisle — not to play games and settle personal vendettas. Now the House must get back to regular order and do the people’s work.
Recognizing the invaluable role of teachers in shaping our future during #TeacherAppreciationWeek! From Northwest Ohio to Capitol Hill, let's celebrate their dedication and commitment to educating the youth of America. Thank you educators for all you do! 🍎
For the first time in 31 years, a University of Toledo player was selected in the 1st round—Quinyon Mitchell was taken by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. His selection marks 3 straight years Toledo Rockets have been drafted. Go Rockets, Go Quinyon, Go Birds!
Joined TMACOG, Wood County Port Authority, and Metroparks Toledo to celebrate #NationalBikeMonth. We also announced $850,000 in federal funding I secured to develop a new bike-pedestrian bridge across the Maumee River. This will benefit so many across our Northwest Ohio communities.
Grateful for the dedication and compassion of nurses from across Northwest Ohio and beyond on #NationalNursesDay! Your tireless commitment to caring for our communities is truly admirable. Thank you for all you do not just today, but every single day.
Keeping our commitment to an academic Medical Center, proud to bring home $500,000 for the University of Toledo to establish a mobile medical unit. Rolling medical offices can provide a variety of health care services, often to medically underserved and rural areas and hard to reach individuals.
