Trump and Elon's cuts to veteran services and mass firings at VA are slamming the door on veterans in need—and Republicans are letting them. It is disrespectful, ungrateful, and un-patriotic. I joined @booker.senate.gov on the Senate floor to demand Trump & Elon reverse course ASAP.
Thank you, @booker.senate.gov for being a voice for so many. America hears you and America is behind you. And my colleagues on the other side of the aisle would be wise to take note. The rest of the country certainly has. Tens of millions have tuned in to hear Senator Booker.
UPDATE: Sen. Cory Booker has been speaking for more than 18 hours. It's now the fifth longest floor speech in the history of the Senate, according to MSNBC.
The warning signs are not subtle: From forcing out the top vaccine expert at the FDA to blocking a CDC assessment showing vaccines are the best way to stop measles, RFK Jr.'s anti-vax agenda is in full swing at HHS, and families are already paying the price.
This is as disturbing and dystopian as it gets. Trump disappeared a father—with protected legal status—to a torture prison in El Salvador, admitted he was sent there mistakenly, and now refuses to bring him back. This father must be brought home—there must be accountability.
EXCLUSIVE: The Trump administration has acknowledged that it grabbed a Maryland father with protected status and mistakenly deported him to El Salvador—but claims that courts are powerless to order his return, @nickmiroff.bsky.social reports: theatln.tc/Bot5mE4O
So the top vaccine official at FDA was pushed out, and the CDC buried an assessment that emphasized the need for vaccines to stop measles. Here's what I said on the Senate floor just ahead of RFK Jr.'s confirmation vote. No Senator should pretend they didn't see this coming.
The Trump administration's targeting of trans Americans and their heinous attacks are absolutely disgraceful. But let me be unequivocal: trans people deserve exactly the same rights and dignity afforded to everyone else. I'll keep fighting hard to protect trans rights.
For reasons no one can understand, Trump is starting trade wars with our allies and the rest of the world. Just remember: It'll be the biggest peacetime tax increase ever, and he's demanding tax giveaways for billionaires while he forces prices up for YOU.
If you actually want to fight antisemitism on college campuses, you should support the work done at the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights—and you should be outraged that Trump & Elon are taking an axe to the team on the frontlines of stopping hatred & discrimination on campus.
🚨 In case you missed it: Republicans voted to allow banks to charge you MORE if you overdraft on your account—repealing a rule that capped fees at $5. Just another way Republicans are actively trying to screw over working people & hope you don’t notice.
"It feels like I'm on the last lifeboat off a sinking ship." Laura has worked at the Social Security Administration for 30+ years helping people get the benefits they’ve earned. She's leaving because Trump & Elon's attacks on SSA are making it impossible to do her job.
The two billionaires running our country straight into the ground seem to have skipped American history because our Constitution is clear: Congress has the power of the purse. Presidents don't write laws—they execute them.
Trump is carving out a foreign policy legacy of diminished U.S. leadership, abandoned allies, starving children, and spreading diseases. History will never forget if he succeeds. Trump is not just turning America away from the world—he is turning the world away from America.
Blocking aid for disaster victims to scrutinize whether recipients of that aid align with your political views is reprehensible.   Disaster relief funding isn’t a piggy bank for Elon—President Trump needs to get these taxpayer dollars to the communities that need them immediately.
The officials who shared classified information in a group chat broke protocol and put our servicemembers' lives in danger. Hegseth and Waltz should RESIGN—and EVERYONE involved must be held accountable. I'm demanding a thorough investigation from the Inspectors General.
The work HHS does—or in this case stops doing—has life and death consequences. It is not some political game. I will keep sounding the alarm about Trump & RFK Jr.'s real threat to our families.
Not only is Trump still championing the violent insurrectionists who attacked our Capitol Police—but just this week, President Trump speculated about compensating people who committed crimes on January 6th with YOUR taxpayer dollars!
You’ll have to excuse me if I don’t take Republicans seriously when they make this big show about law and order in defense of Tesla when, at the same time, they are letting Trump stab law enforcement in the back—pardoning violent criminals who assaulted police officers.
It doesn't take a genius to understand that pushing out 20,000 health workers won’t make Americans healthier. The next time we are underprepared for a deadly pandemic, remember it was thanks to the Measles President, Donald Trump, who decided to hollow out our health agencies.
Breaking news: The Department of Health and Human Services is cutting nearly a quarter of its workforce and consolidating several of its departments, Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Thursday.
