The proposed Republican budget resolution lays to rest the idea that lowering costs for working Americans is a priority. How could they? In #RI01, their plan would eliminate $1,150 in savings on energy bills and gut programs that increase home values between $9,800 and $23,000.
For Rhode Island seniors on Medicare Part D who live on fixed incomes, raising prescription costs by $200 a month is a non-starter. I urge my GOP colleagues to do something to help them instead of gutting sections of the Inflation Reduction Act that make it easier to afford medication.
Congressman Brian Mast, I will apologize for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. URI in my state still can’t access funds. People have died from the foreign aid freeze. And aid to stop the spread of Ebola still hasn’t been released.
POV: sitting in my first @housebudgetdems.bsky.social hearing ready to call out the Republican betrayal of the American middle class. Their plan to hurt workers and seniors in order to cut taxes for the richest 1% is unacceptable!
I’m co-leading the Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act with @scanlon.house.gov, Congressman Gimenez, and Congressman Fitzpatrick to expand federal support for those brave leaders and their families if impacted by service-related cancer.
Oh c’mon. As I sit in a @houseforeign.bsky.social hearing right now on Trump’s extreme actions to dismantle USAID funding, it’s almost comical to see my Republican colleagues support this cartoonish level of corruption from the world’s richest man. www.npr.org/2025/02/13/g...
🚨House Republicans released their budget blueprint🚨 What you need to know: - Pg 35 cuts Medicaid - Pg 37 increases federal debt by $4 Trillion They’re cutting benefits for kids, families & seniors to pay for billionaire tax cuts.
Empty promises of transparency today from Elon and Trump at the White House. Their words don’t mean much when you fire someone for accurately reporting that $500 million in food aid was going to spoil because of DOGE.
On snowy and stormy days, NOAA and NWS provide the weather forecasting data that our entire country relies on.    We can’t dismantle this agency that protects American lives and property, keeps air travel safe, informs climate action, and strengthens our economy.
DOGE is taking a sledgehammer to NOAA — realizing the Project 2025 goal of dismantling and privatizing the agency.   I joined my fellow ranking members on the Science, Space, and Technology Committee to demand answers and protect their crucial work.
Democrats on @houseforeign.bsky.social are pushing back on Trump's illegal attempt to dismantle USAID.    Thank you @sarajacobs.house.gov for your leadership to restore this essential agency that supports American farmers and businesses while saving countless lives around the world.
USAID keeps Americans safe from diseases and terrorism and promotes American farms and businesses. That’s why I introduced legislation today to reiterate that it’s illegal to dismantle USAID without an act of Congress and to prohibit any funds to do so.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is the government watchdog that cracks down on fraudsters and predatory lenders when they steal from the American people.   No wonder Trump and Elon — the two scammers-in-chief — are trying to get rid of it.
Trump's newest tax on imports of steel and aluminum will hike costs of everything from kitchen pans and soda cans to new housing and cars! We need a measured approach that will not hurt American workers, consumers, and business. We also cannot alienate our allies playing by the rules.
Started under Bush 43, PEPFAR is a program with bipartisan support that has saved millions through the prevention & treatment of HIV/AIDS. A pause on PEPFAR will have deadly results. My colleagues and I are calling on Secretary Rubio to restore funding for this critical program immediately.
PEPFAR is a cornerstone of global health progress and U.S. diplomacy, with bipartisan support spanning decades. My letter to Secretary Rubio with @robinlynnekelly.bsky.social and 109 other House Democrats urges him to restore this vital funding before even more people needlessly die.
