Today is Workers Memorial Day. Over 50 years ago today, the Occupational Safety and Health Act was enacted, enabling the right to a safe job. As the son of a union member, I will continue to fight for workplace safety, fair wages, and adequate health care for people in the workforce.
It will not be enough to simply criticize Trump, even though that criticism is richly deserved. We need to build a coalition that fights for the working people. I spoke this morning with Kate Bolduan on CNN about the next steps we need to take. youtube.com/shorts/5iSLJ...
Please join my office at the Protecting Yourself from Scams and Fraud event on Tuesday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. We will hear from guests from the Federal Trade Commission, Kent Police Department, and Kent Councilmember Boyd. I hope you can join us at the Kent Senior Activity Center next week.
Housing vouchers are one of the most effective ways to reduce homelessness, which has hit Seattle hard. Through building more affordable housing, leveraging the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, and expanding universal housing vouchers, we can get more people into homes and off the street.
The Trump Administration has arrested a judge in Milwaukee and accused her of obstructing immigration enforcement. Their disregard for judicial independence is deeply troubling for our country.

Grey Zabel, welcome to Seattle. Great first pick by the Hawks. Much more work to do today.
Donald Trump’s tariffs could cost families an extra $3,800 a year.

Two years ago, President Biden signed a bipartisan national security supplemental into law, further helping the people of Ukraine as they fight for sovereignty against an oppressive Russian regime. Now more than ever, we need to maintain our support for Ukraine in this war.
Today marks Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, commemorating the lives of the 1.5 million victims lost during these violent attacks. Our district is home to a strong Armenian American community and they are in our thoughts, as are all Armenians on this day.
A standard WA drivers license or ID card does not meet the REAL ID requirements, so be sure to get yours in time. For more information, visit dol.wa.gov/id-cards/rea....

Today on Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, let’s honor the six million individuals who were murdered due to hatred and bigotry. Never again should we face a tragedy like this one.
A soccer ball made in Pakistan priced at $17.99 would jump to $23.31 following a 29% tariff. The President’s reasonless financial policies are hitting everyday items on the shelves. www.americanprogress.org/article/exam...
