My heartfelt condolences go out to the Indian people and the families who have lost loved ones from this violent attack. I hope for a speedy recovery for all those who were injured, and that the perpetrators are held accountable. The U.S. stands with India in the global fight against terrorism.
Today, a mass shooting in Kashmir killed at least two dozen people and injured many more. This is one of the worst attacks this region has seen in years, and I condemn this brutal attack against civilians.
I joined Anderson Cooper last night to talk about Secretary Hegseth's multiple uses of an unsecured application to discuss matters of national security. The Trump administration owes us an explanation and the procedures must be fixed. youtube.com/shorts/OOEyX...

Ranking Member @adamsmith.house.gov joined Anderson Cooper on @cnn.com to talk about the news that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth again shared detailed operational plans ahead of military action on an unsecure Signal chat, this time w/a group that included his family.

On April 20, 2023, I introduced the Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act alongside @booker.senate.gov and @jayapal.house.gov. Our country needs this legislation now more than ever, to maintain the humanity of all immigrants.

House Republicans' recent budget resolution cuts SNAP benefits. SNAP helps more than 42 million Americans, including 42,083 households in our district, get fed every month. Not only does it put food on the table, but it creates over 45,0000 jobs.
According to USCIS, 23,500 people in Washington became naturalized in the last fiscal year, and our state had about 190,000 green card holders that were eligible for naturalization. This termination of funding is harming thousands of Washingtonians, and it must be reversed immediately.
I signed onto a letter demanding Acting Director Scott restores funding for the Citizenship & Assimilation grant program, which helps low-income immigrants apply and prepare to become U.S. citizens.
Pope Francis lived a life of grace that will pave the way for a more accepting society. His leadership, care for the less fortunate, and commitment towards inclusion will be remembered. May he rest in peace.
The thing that keeps me going is my want to help King County become a better place to live, and there’s a lot of ways we can work together to make that happen. Today starts National Volunteer Week, where you can take some time and help those around you.
He was also a kind, decent and compassionate person.
My thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of State Senator Bill Ramos, who passed away yesterday. Especially his wife King County Councilwoman Sarah Perry. Bill was a dedicated public servant who did so much to make our community a better place to live for all of us.
Happy Easter to all those celebrating in WA-09!
By growing our workforce, building more affordable housing, and supporting small
businesses, we’ll bridge this gap.

“The wealthiest fifth of Seattle households earned about 21 times more than the poorest fifth in 2023,” according to @SeattleTimes.
Our city has the 18th largest income gap out of any city in the nation, and we need to keep taking the steps to counter this divide.
Donald Trump is creating a constitutional crisis and blatantly disregarding court orders.
