Heartbroken to learn that two lives were lost, six people were injured, countless lives were forever changed after the deadly shooting today at Florida State University. My thoughts are with the FSU community as they heal from this terrible tragedy. abcnews.go.com/US/active-sh...

But make no mistake: the damage was done. Valuable time was lost, participants dropped out, and the project may never fully recover. Political ideology should never interfere with life-saving research. I will continue to fight for science and the people it serves.
Trump’s reckless war on science and diversity gutted over 700 NIH research grants—including a $36 million dementia study led by UC Davis. After public outcry, the grant was reinstated. A small but important victory.
Congressional Republicans keep saying we’re “lying” about Medicaid cuts. But now their own members are sounding the alarm—because they know cuts are on the table.
The truth is clear. The threat is real. And our pressure is working.

Proud to cosponsor the Stopping a Rogue President on Trade Act to end Trump’s reckless trade wars and return tariff authority to Congress. American families and small businesses deserve stability—not this chaos.
Wishing a joyful and meaningful Passover to all who celebrate. May this holiday celebrating freedom be filled with renewal and resilience. Chag Sameach!

FACT: The Social Security Administration has reported that less than .01 percent of Social Security payments are lost to fraud. Seniors, people with disabilities, and rural Americans who can’t access an SSA office in person rely on phone services to set up and manage their benefits.
When asked about why the Administration is restricting phone services for Social security recipients, Vice President Vance claimed this week that “40 percent of the people who are calling are actually committing fraud.”
My statement on the House passage of Senate Republicans’ budget below.
This administration has fired thousands of vets from federal jobs, gutted veterans health services — including the veteran suicide hotline — and canceled contracts that support homeless and at-risk vets. That’s no way to treat those who have bravely served our country.
Honored to join Democratic leaders to hear from veterans experiencing the fallout from the President and Elon Musk’s mass firings.
Two years ago today, five people were tragically killed by a shooter at Louisville’s Old National Bank. Today, we remember those whose lives were cut short and honor their memory by continuing our work to make our communities safer.
