All Veterans Affairs benefits will continue to be processed, and VA medical facilities will remain OPEN.  But VA call centers, hotlines, and regional offices will shutter because of the Republican shutdown.
Rhode Islanders will continue to receive their Social Security and SSI checks, and Medicare/Medicaid benefits WILL NOT be affected.  But the Republican shutdown will increase wait times at the SSA and CMS.
🚨Trump and Republicans shut down the government because they refuse to reverse health care cuts and lower health care costs for millions of Americans. As a result, a wide range of government services will be disrupted. 🧵Here’s what you need to know:
House Republicans are on vacation and unwilling to address the health care and shutdown crisis they’ve created with Trump. Democrats are here, ready to work. It’s time to stop the cuts, lower costs, and save health care.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social went to the House floor ready to help 22 million Americans, including 40,000 Rhode Islanders, afford their health insurance. Republicans were nowhere to be found. Republicans must show up to work & stop their shutdown.
As Republicans drive us to a government shutdown by refusing to save health care and stop cuts, join me to hear what @housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting for and the impact on you and your family.
I closed out #NationalSeniorCenterMonth w/ @reed.senate.gov, @whitehouse.senate.gov, and East Bay state legislators at Benjamin Church Senior Center in Bristol to discuss our work in Congress to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security from Trump's cuts and defend them for all RI’ers!
Rhode Islanders love our local coffee shops AND coffee milk.  Trump’s tariffs are raising the cost of coffee, hurting local businesses and making RI’ers pay the price.   This #NationalCoffeeDay, I’m pushing to repeal these tariffs and lower the cost of your cup of joe.
Trump and Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law is cruel.  It’s going to cause 1 in 4 nursing homes across America to close, leaving older Americans out in the cold.  They’re hellbent on attacking American health care because they do not care about YOU. Stop the cuts, now.
Calling #RI01 high school seniors interested in our nation’s service academies! Apply before November 1 to be considered for a nomination for the Class of 2029.  Attending a service academy is a great opportunity to serve our country & receive a world-class education.
In #RI01, there are so many ways to enjoy the great outdoors! Legislation like my bipartisan Veterans Get Outside Resolution encourages Vets to get outside & experience the mental health benefits of nature. This #NationalPublicLandsDay, I encourage all to enjoy being outside!
Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House. They’d rather shut down the government than help 22 million Americans afford their health insurance.
Honored to welcome Rhode Island veterans, including 106-year-old WWII veteran Bill, to Washington with Honor Flight RI to experience the monuments to their service & sacrifice in our nation’s capital. We are forever grateful for their service to our great nation.
It’s Rhode Island Startup week and we’re celebrating our young inventors, scientists & entrepreneurs at the Innovation@Brown showcase.   Amidst Trump’s attacks on scientific research, I’m focused on supporting innovation in Rhode Island to pioneer the discoveries of tomorrow.
A 100% tariff on medication?!?! Another move to drive up costs. First, Trump cut $1 trillion from Americans’ health care. Then, he threatened to let tax credits helping 22 million afford their health care expire. Now, this. He's determined to make Americans sicker & poorer.
