Medicare and Medicaid were signed into law 60 years ago today – expanding health care for seniors and families. Trump and Republicans are undermining this progress with their Big, Ugly Law that is the biggest cut EVER to Medicaid to pay for the LARGEST tax break for billionaires in our history.
🚨Trump’s EPA is DISMANTLING the Clean Air Act 🚨 ❌ Today’s action ignores the science that greenhouse gas emissions cause climate change ❌ Gives polluters a green light ❌ Allows Republicans to strip away essential protections that keep our air clean
Weather disasters have caused over $90 billion in damage across the U.S. this year. Trump’s response is to cancel NOAA’s report on our costliest weather events. I’m leading the charge to demand the reinstatement of this vital tool. Americans must understand the real costs of the climate crisis.
Trump fired over 97% of the federal mediators who help resolve labor disputes, protect workers rights, and keep our economy moving forward. This extreme workforce cut is creating delays in resolving labor disputes across our country.
This August, I’ll be traveling across #RI01 to listen to RIers, hear about impacts from the first six months of Trump’s presidency, & highlight my work fighting for our state. Please reach out through my website linked below, in person, or over social media. Looking forward to seeing you out there!
Congratulations to Higher Ground International on cutting the ribbon of the new Rukiya Center in West End Providence! ✂️ 🏣   I’m proud to secure federal funding to support the hope-inspiring work taking place in this hub for immigrants & refugees from all homelands. 🫱🏿‍🫲🏽🌍
The warnings about Trump & Republicans’ Big Ugly Law were not fear-mongering or scare tactics. And now they are a new reality. Here’s more confirmation on local shockwaves to our health system.
📣Calling all #RI01 Veterans and military families!   Save the date for my second annual Veterans’ BBQ this September 13th from 2-5pm at Slater Park in Pawtucket.
Rhode Island’s tourism industry is at risk because of Trump’s attacks on immigrants and reckless trade war — leading to international tourists canceling their plans to visit the United States.   I’m working to reassert Congress’ role and stop the President from hurting our local economy.
Marked 35 years of the #ADA and 5 years of R.A.M.P.’s accessibility and education leadership in Rhode Island at Accessibility is Beautiful! I look forward to our continued partnership to uplift our community members with disabilities.
Congratulations to Smithfield Police on your 75th anniversary of service! Glad to join the celebration to thank these public safety leaders for their tireless efforts to keep Smithfield safe.
It’s festival season at Fort Adams in Newport with the Folk Festival this weekend and the Jazz Festival coming up next.🎶   Get more info about the performances and getting around — whether by land or sea 🚗🛥️🚴:
Celebrated Liberian Independence Day with a flag raising ceremony in Providence!🇱🇷   As a proud Liberian-American, it was great to celebrate 178 years of freedom and heritage with fellow members of Rhode Island’s Liberian community!
The North Providence-Smithfield Babe Ruth League ball club is making history as back-to-back New England champs! ⚾️🥇 Congratulations to this talented all-star team — wishing them luck as they compete in the Babe Ruth World Series later this summer.
Too many parents have to choose between food and diapers. Project Undercover works to provide diapers, underwear, socks, & so much more to agencies across RI. Toured their facility yesterday to see their remarkable impact on so many families.
