Great to meet with Jacob Day, Maryland’s Secretary of Housing and Community Development, today! On the Banking Committee, I oversee most federal housing policy - so I look forward to working together to make housing more affordable for Marylanders.
Inspiring day at the Frank M. Johnson Federal Building and Courthouse in Montgomery learning about Judge Frank Johnson and Justice William Brennan who contributed so much to advance racial equity. A group of young people did an MLK reenactment that transported us back in time.
I’m on the Edmund Pettus Bridge to honor the 60th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday.  What a wonderful opportunity to honor the legacy and march with people from all across the country who believe freedom and justice should be the right of every person – of every American.
The Chesapeake Bay is the heart of Maryland, and I’m dedicated to do everything I can to protect it for generations to come. On this Chesapeake Bay Day, I was proud to join advocates in pushing back against efforts to cut civil servants and freeze funding for the Bay.
So honored to meet with young Marylanders from the Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes Young Adult Advocacy Council. Their work to spread awareness for T1D throughout our state is driving meaningful change and progress, bringing us closer to a cure for T1D.
I’m proud to be joined by Ottis Johnson, Jr. tonight. Ottis is a veteran who now serves as the National Vice President of the 14th District of AFGE. He represents countless civil servants — many are veterans — who are being targeted by this President in a callous witch hunt.
Proud to meet with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Nearly 30% of federal workers are veterans. Americans who raised their hands to serve us in the Armed Forces and then continued that service in the federal government. Cutting their jobs is a disgrace.
Honored to join the Tri-County (MD) Alumnae and Ft. Washington Alumnae Chapters of Delta Sigma Theta for an incredible Founders Day celebration. Wonderful to celebrate with all my Sorors including Past National Presidents Marcia Fudge and Gwen Boyd.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk are trying to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau - the agency that helps you if you get scammed. @senatedem.bsky.social are united in defending the CFPB, which has already returned more than $21 billion to families cheated by Wall Street.
I asked the Dep. Sec. of Labor nominee about collective bargaining agreements. He couldn't answer. If DOGE were serious about getting rid of unqualified federal workers, they'd start with this guy instead of the hardworking Marylanders who actually know what they're doing.
The President has decided to hold $330 million hostage from Maryland's Department of Transportation. To be clear, this is money that has *already* been appropriated by Congress. I asked transportation officials today if this was normal. WATCH ⬇️(it’s not normal)
