Congratulations to my longtime staff member and Chief of Staff, Kenneth Cutts, who was recognized by Capitol CNCT (“connect”) as a top 10 Chief of Staff for 2026!

I was glad to work with Democrats & Republicans to pass the funding bill covering Military Construction & Veterans Affairs for the upcoming, 2027, fiscal year. Quality of life is fundamental to military readiness, & this is a crucial investment in our installations, military families, & veterans.
Folks in these communities are working hard to grow and thrive. I will continue to fight for the federal programs that invest in and partner with Georgians as Congress works on appropriations for the upcoming fiscal year.
And in Albany, this federal investment will support neighborhood revitalization efforts, restore historic homes, and build new affordable workforce housing near Phoebe Putney hospital and the downtown area.
In Plains, these funds will help renovate public buildings along SR-280, including paving and lighting of the parking lot for the recently constructed multipurpose community center.
In Blakely and Early County, the funds will be used to improve the city’s water/wastewater system and upgrade the county’s regional 911 emergency services equipment.
Last week, I visited Blakely, Plains, and Albany to present those cities – and Early County – with ceremonial checks representing federal funds I secured in last year’s appropriations bills.
That is where Legal Services Corporation comes in. It helps our seniors, our veterans, and the most vulnerable through civil legal aid groups serving people in every district in every state.
During the debate, I tried to improve the bill by supporting an amendment to restore funding to the Legal Services Corporation. From housing & domestic abuse to healthcare & other everyday concerns that sometimes require a lawyer, many people simply cannot afford representation.

Today, the House Appropriations Committee considered the Fiscal Year 2027 Commerce, Justice, and Science funding bill. It has many shortcomings – from hurting businesses and jeopardizing public safety to making workers more vulnerable and undermining innovation.

I will continue to work hard, across the aisle, to make sure that Congress remains a reliable partner to Georgia’s cities and counties as they work to provide the infrastructure and quality of life that our families and small businesses rely on to grow and thrive.
This morning, I met with the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, along with my friend and colleague, Rep. Austin Scott (GA-08).

Words cannot fully convey the magnitude of this loss, but may the memory of his warmth, his courage as a barrier-breaker, and his extraordinary devotion to public service bring you comfort. We are better because of him.
My wife, Vivian, and I offer our deepest sympathies to John’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
I was saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend and former colleague, former Georgia State Representative, John White.
Congressman Bishop (GA-02) issued the following statement after the passing of humanitarian and entrepreneur, Ted Turner.
