Our legislation will isolate Russia–putting it on a trade island by imposing stiff tariffs on other countries that support these atrocities.
We suspect it will be more of the same. If it is more of the same, Russia can expect decisive action from the United States Senate. To that end, we are beyond pleased that we now have 81 cosponsors for legislation to sanction Russia for its barbaric invasion of Ukraine.
As Secretary Rubio indicated yesterday to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State & Foreign Operations, Russia has agreed to provide its term sheet for a ceasefire in the next few days. Its contents will speak volumes as to whether or not Russia is serious about peace.
We must honor our nation's heroes with action—the Major Richard Star Act will do right by our combat-injured veterans in ensuring they receive the full military benefits they have earned & deserve. Nothing is more fundamental than giving our veterans what they are owed.

Ahead of Trump's dinner tomorrow celebrating those who bought his meme coin, @blumenthal.senate.gov tells @deanobeidallah.bsky.social how Trump and Republicans are boasting about their corruption.

Veterans suicide prevention research—likely lifesaving—is among the hundreds of contracts canceled by Musk & Collins. No wonder they’re concealing all these terminations—refusing to disclose facts. Ending this research is cruel & dumb. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/16/u...
Secretary Collins continues to suppress & deny Congress & veterans key info around his careless cuts & workforce firings—including plans to cut 83,000 VA employees. We need the full Senate to be allowed to vote & debate on political nominees—not rubber stamp them without question.
Proud to join Stamford’s Memorial Day ceremony yesterday— a stirring reminder of how much we owe the men & women who have given all for our great nation.
Marie was a warm & tenacious advocate for the people of Hartford. She believed in lifting people up & worked tirelessly to help give others a fair opportunity to achieve a brighter future. She will be deeply missed, & my thoughts are with her family.

Exciting, inspiring Commencement at Albertus Magnus College yesterday, celebrating the Legacy Class of 2025 as this great school marks its 100th year. Congratulations on amazing success!
Honored to participate in Stamford’s Immigration Forum at the Unitarian Universalist Church, highlighting the need to defend health care. No Medicaid cuts to finance billionaire tax breaks.
Magnificent Commencement at University of New Haven, a great success story in American higher education. Proud & excited to join in celebrating a wonderfully diverse & accomplished Class of 2025!
I am keeping President Biden & his family in my thoughts today. He is a tough, courageous man, & I wish him strength & healing as he navigates this diagnosis.
Magnificent celebration of Hospice at its annual Bloom Gala, & thank you Barbara Pearce for immense lasting contributions. Welcome Sylvia Allais!
Rallying for EB workers— fair pay, good health care & benefits. Great spirit! Proud to join you.
Great visit with the highly skilled workers at Reno Machine Company in Newington. Their defense, aerospace, & power generation products are vital to our nation's security– reaffirming CT as the nation’s arsenal of defense & contributing to our state's economy.
Hartford Public Library is the perfect place to have The American Place—classes & support to educate new citizens so they can be productive & help our nation. Investment in this kind of education is critical-the Trump Admin must stop making cuts to vital programs like this.
Putin’s deep distaste for free reporting leads him to poison journalists in Russia & bomb them in Ukraine. By any means, he seeks to silence reporters, especially when they expose his war crimes and atrocities. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/0...
We need a vote— right now— whatever the legislative path. It will pass overwhelmingly & help stop Putin’s purposeful, brutal battlefield bloodshed, bomb & drone civilian deaths, horrendous maiming & suffering. Time to speak to him in the only language he understands.
Putin will continue stonewalling & slow walking ceasefire efforts till his economy is hit hard— isolating it on a financial island— as my sanctions bill with Senator Graham would do. It’s supported by European allies, Ukraine, & nearly 80 Senators, evenly bipartisan.
