The Spotted Lanternfly is a hitchhiking pest that puts at risk ½ the trees in CT, plus orchards, vineyards, & hops fields. States like CT need strong federal funding to counter this menace & develop systemic, strategic ways to stop this invasive species.
By passing the Russia Sanctions bill, we say to the people of Ukraine: you are not alone. And we say to Vladimir Putin: You will not conquer Ukraine; you will not defeat this free, brave people, who are turning the tide against your blood-thirsty aggression.
This GAO report underscores the need for increased transparency & accountability from the Trump Administration so the American public can better understand DOGE’s activities as the organization guts vital government programs. 4/4
My PSI report last year showed that DOGE was clearly never about efficiency or saving the American taxpayer money—wasting at least $21.7 billion at the time while the Trump Administration cut health care, nutrition assistance, & emergency services. 3/
THREAD: The Trump Administration has used DOGE to recklessly slash government programs, ransacking critical services & resources & proudly displaying supposed ‘savings’ on its Wall of Receipts. 1/ www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...
Today marks the 61st anniversary of Medicare & Medicaid, the backbone of our health care system. While Trump & Republicans slash these vital programs, I will continue to support bold ideas like Medicare for All to ensure every American has access to the care they need.
I know he would be jubilant over this vote. And I also know that he wouldn’t rest until the Russia Sanctions bill is truly over the finish line & signed into law—so neither will we.
We honored Senator Graham earlier today here in the Rotunda, but our real tribute was moving ahead with legislation he championed to impose scorching tariffs & sanctions on purchasers of Russian oil to stop them from fueling Putin’s war machine.
Despite repeated demands for information, Trump has stonewalled & misrepresented Iran war costs, completely eviscerating his pleas for more money. He’s meeting massive skepticism & opposition on both sides of the aisle.
East Hampton Old Home Day parade was—true to tradition—a tremendous tribute to great community spirit & support. Spectacular bands, floats, fire trucks, bells—loud & beautiful. Thanks everyone!
Bristol’s team has worked well to restore power but widespread residential damage still needs to be repaired. I’m urging homeowners to document it, so we can press for insurance coverage they deserve.
Our veterans deserve the best we have to offer—they took care of our nation, & now our nation must take care of them. The UConn Health Neuromodulation Center of Excellence is an investment in our veterans & the cutting-edge treatments & care needed to help them heal.
Met Seyo & his two sons at his restaurant with Rep. Larson. A great family & successful business owner. While Seyo is grateful for our help in getting him home, ICE should never have disrupted this family’s lives just to meet some arbitrary quota. It is cruel & heartless.
Venezuela flag raising ceremony in Bridgeport honoring the bravery & strength of its people, who have suffered such tragedy. We stand with the Venezuelan-American community in support.
