Nurses are an essential part of our healthcare system. Some of my Oregon colleagues joined me in urging leaders at the Oregon Nurses Association and Providence to come to the table in good faith and negotiate a fair contract.

I helped pass the legislation that made these investments possible, and I’ll continue to advocate for the resources Oregonians need.
NW Oregon and the rest of our state received significant federal investments this year to help rebuild crumbling infrastructure, clean up pollution, and advance environmental justice.

I’ve created a Starter Pack of House Democrats (and committee) accounts! I’ll continue adding as more of us join.
No matter what dysfunction we may face in the coming months and years, House Democrats are here in the People’s House to fight for the people — it’s simple.

Communicating the benefits of a clean, green future to rural, urban, and coastal regions will empower families in every state to make smart decisions for themselves and the climate. I participated in two roundtable discussions about ocean health and the need to invest in coastal communities.
It was great to participate in the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Institute’s inaugural Summit.
We had productive conversations about how clean energy and environmental stewardship will create quality jobs, lower costs, and strengthen the economy.
UPDATE: The National Weather Service has now cancelled the tsunami warning for Northern California and parts of Southern Oregon. My office will continue to monitor the situation.

A tsunami warning for California and Oregon coastal areas has been canceled. Aftershocks are rumbling across Northern California following a powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0.

Good news (preliminary): There does not appear to have been a damaging tsunami generated from this quake. Other areas of California and Oregon still under tsunami warnings should be cleared within the next 30min-1 hour.
Continue monitoring tsunami.gov for updates!

Take the advice that if you are in a tsunami warning area, evacuate inland or to higher ground above and beyond designated tsunami hazard zones or move to an upper floor of a multi-story building depending on your situation.

We should also recognize the bravery of the young plaintiffs and their doctors who are bringing this case to the nation’s highest court to fight for the rights of trans teens and their families to make health care decisions that are in their own best interest.
As a Vice Chair of the Equality Caucus I joined an amicus brief in US v. Skrmetti to urge the Supreme Court to uphold the rights of trans teens to access the health care they need. 🧵
I am honored to sponsor this legislation to recognize her contributions to NW Oregon by naming this post office – which is close to the home where she spent her final days – in her honor so people will be inspired by her example for years to come.
Elizabeth was a trailblazer and an inspiration to many, including me.

After the election, we denounced the horrifying increase in hateful, sexist rhetoric online.
Then, now, and always, we will stand up against this unacceptable violence against women.
Today, we reaffirm our pledge to women and girls.

Congress must fully fund tsunami hazard mitigation and research to better prepare the Pacific Northwest and save lives.
