Suzanne Bonamici

Suzanne Marie Bonamici is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Oregon's 1st congressional district, a seat she was first elected to in a 2012 special election. The district includes most of Portland west of the Willamette River, along with most of Portland's western suburbs such as Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, and Lake Oswego.

The Inflation Reduction Act includes a $2000 annual cap on prescription drug costs for seniors on Medicare, and it's now in effect. Millions will save an average of $400 each year, putting more money in their pockets. In Congress I will continue to work to lower costs for Oregonians and Americans.
The Inflation Reduction Act is the largest climate investment in U.S. history, and the law is also lowering drug costs for seniors on Medicare and making our tax system more effective and efficient.
After years of talking about infrastructure, in 2021 Congress passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) to invest in a safer transportation system, replace dangerous lead pipes, expand affordable broadband, rehabilitate critical ecosystems, and more.
As this year comes to a close and we prepare for a new presidential administration and Congress, I have been reflecting on what we’ve accomplished during the Biden-Harris administration.
President Carter led with compassion and empathy, and his commitment to advancing the welfare of people everywhere earned him a Nobel Peace Prize and established a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. I send my sincere condolences to President Carter’s family and friends.
