Despite the immense challenges we are currently facing, I remain deeply optimistic about the future of our country.

With another year remaining in my term, I will continue working every day to deliver results for our region, advance legislation that improves the lives and livelihoods of people in my district and across our country, and stand up for the values and priorities my constituents sent me here to defend.
We have helped thousands of constituents navigate the federal government, returned millions in earned benefits, and never lost sight of the simple truth that public service is about showing up for people when they need help the most.
Together, we have expanded access to affordable health care, strengthened support for veterans and their families, protected our natural resources, confronted the climate crisis, and fought for working families.
Serving our community and our country has been the honor of my lifetime. Every step of this journey has been shaped by the people I represent, by their resilience, their determination, and their belief that government can and should work for the common good.
I will keep fighting back against climate denial and the cruel weaponization of federal aid, and I will continue advocating for solutions that strengthen disaster preparedness and build climate-resilient communities.
As we reflect on the long road ahead, I remain committed to ensuring our communities and our neighbors have the support they need, when they need it.
Even worse, one year later, he continues to politicize disaster relief, withholding critical aid from communities and neighbors who need it most.
He has withheld FEMA funding for local communities and undercut state and local disaster mitigation programs. These reckless cuts put lives and property at risk.
Yet, Donald Trump continues to ignore this reality. Instead of strengthening our ability to prevent and respond to disasters, he has attacked NOAA and the National Weather Service, undermining real-time weather forecasting and wildfire monitoring.
This will not be the last time California faces the deadly consequences of wildfires. Longer, more dangerous fire seasons, fueled by accelerating climate change, continue to put our communities at risk.
Homes were destroyed, communities were upended, livelihoods were devastated, and lives were lost. Families are still reeling, businesses are still recovering, and the work of rebuilding is far from over for our neighbors across Southern California.
Today marks one year since the Los Angeles wildfires burned for days, as powerful winds fueled the flames, making the fires larger, faster-moving, and harder to contain.
"They were beaten with pipes, whipped, assaulted by bear spray and pummeled by Confederate flagpoles. They were bloodied but unbowed. We owe these heroes an eternal debt of gratitude and will never forget their service and their sacrifice."
"They were outnumbered by a violent mob, but never overwhelmed by the seriousness of the moment. For more than five hours, they were forced to engage in hand-to-hand combat, confronting thousands of bloodthirsty rioters who were unleashed by Donald Trump.
"On that fateful day, hundreds of brave, courageous and dedicated Capitol Police and DC officers stood on these very steps and across the Capitol grounds to defend the Congress, the country and the Constitution.
There must be a full, independent investigation into this shooting. The agents involved must be held fully accountable for the excessive use of force that we witnessed today, and the American people deserve full transparency and accountability for what happened.
ICE is not making our communities safer. It is inflicting cruelty, fueling fear, and eroding public trust in law enforcement nationwide.
Americans are being misled, and worse, our communities are facing deaths from excessive use of force by ICE agents on our streets, all for Trump’s political theater.
Adding to the outrage is Secretary Noem’s blatant misrepresentation of the events. Lying to the American people and promoting inflammatory, false rhetoric in the aftermath of a deadly shooting is wholly unacceptable.
