Thank you to all the students and teachers who took part in this beloved tradition and helped make sure our veterans felt appreciated this Valentine’s Day.
I am always inspired by our young people’s heartfelt commitment to uplifting those who have served our nation in uniform. Thanks to their efforts, local veterans throughout our region received more than 1,000 Valentine’s Day cards this year.
Every year, my office is proud to host #ValentinesforVets with students from across California’s 26th Congressional District.
This is wholly unacceptable. Pam Bondi should end the theatrics and resign immediately. The American people deserve competent, accountable leadership that will deliver justice and uphold the law.
At the same time, the Department of Justice has failed to protect survivors’ privacy, releasing names and sensitive images while still failing to meet its legal obligations under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Bondi has chosen to shield perpetrators of horrific sex-trafficking crimes with clear financial ties to the Trump administration.
Floundering in her falsehoods, Bondi lashed out in an embarrassing spectacle that showed a complete lack of professionalism and decorum. Most disturbing of all was her refusal to apologize to the Epstein survivors standing behind her.
She misled Congress about evidence that raises serious questions about the President’s knowledge of and involvement in criminal activity.
Forever a loyalist to Donald Trump, Pam Bondi continued her shameful pattern of deceit and deflection while testifying before Congress about her complete failure of leadership – particularly regarding the release of the Epstein files.
Every Republican who remains silent is complicit in the destruction of our democracy and contributes to the continued moral decline of our nation.
The hypocrisy and continued spineless silence from Trump loyalists like Mike Johnson and Congressional Republicans only embolden this behavior, allowing hatred and extremism to be normalized in our country.
We know that Donald Trump is a racist and vile individual. He has been a disgrace to our country since day one. What is truly outrageous is not just his behavior, but the reaction — or lack thereof — from so-called leaders in the Republican Party.
The blatantly racist video Donald Trump posted today is yet another example of his complete moral bankruptcy and total lack of human decency.
Thank you to the faith leaders, community organizers, and local officials who stood with us today. We will not allow fear or cruelty to define who we are. We will write a different chapter, rooted in justice, compassion, and accountability. We will not be silent until humanity prevails.
This moment demands action, not words alone. We are demanding real reforms, an end to warrantless arrests and raids in places of care like churches and schools, full accountability for violence and abuse, and the firing of Kristi Noem.
Every life has worth. No one should live in fear or face violence at the hands of their own government. That is why I oppose funding for an agency that has operated without meaningful oversight and inflicted harm on communities across this country.
Recently, Pope Leo reminded the world of a question from the Gospel of Matthew that cuts to the heart of this moment: How did you treat the foreigner?
That question reaches beyond any one faith. It speaks to our shared humanity and our responsibility to act.
ICE has terrorized communities while evading real oversight and accountability, and the American people overwhelmingly reject this abuse of power. All people deserve to live in safety and dignity, free from fear and violence at the hands of their own government.
Today, every Democratic senator voted NO on adding $10 billion more to ICE’s budget.
I voted NO on funding for ICE and will continue to oppose any additional funding for an agency that operates with brutality, lawlessness, and impunity.
