Happy #Diwali to everyone celebrating the #FestivalOfLights across #VenturaCounty, the Conejo Valley, and around the world.
These aren’t the actions of a serious leader. They’re the antics of someone unfit to hold office and incapable of putting the American people first.
Even amid a government shutdown, Trump’s priorities remain the same: being petty on social media and wasting taxpayer dollars on dangerous stunts. Make no mistake, Trump doesn’t care about paying our troops or lowering your health care costs. He only cares about feeding his ego.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, but a CHP vehicle was hit by falling shrapnel – a perfect symbol of Trump’s recklessness and vanity.
While Trump was firing off rants on Truth Social, he was also using our Marines as props for political theater, creating gridlock on the 5 and putting lives at risk as live munitions rained over the freeway.
He’s clearly upset that record numbers showed up to these protests – far more than ever turned out for his failed parade or even his own inauguration.
Instead, he’s busy playing with AI and posting vile deepfake videos, petty distractions from the millions of Americans who took to the streets to protest his cruelty, chaos, and complete lack of leadership.
It’s Day 20 of the Republican shutdown – and Donald Trump is doing nothing to put an end to it.

Meet Theresa. Her twin boys depend on Medicaid to receive the care they need.
Unlike Republicans, House Democrats are fighting to save health care and protect families like Theresa’s.
It will take all of us, working together, to hold Trump and his allies accountable for their deeply un-American agenda. Together, we will keep fighting for our democracy – because in this country, power belongs to the people, not the privileged few.
While Speaker Johnson may call these peaceful demonstrations “Hate America” rallies, the sight of so many people exercising their First Amendment rights is proof of how deeply we love this country and how determined we are to defend what it truly stands for.
These protests paint a powerful picture of America’s true spirit.
America has spoken once again: We have no kings.
I was proud to join our community at one of several “No Kings” demonstrations in #VenturaCounty. Across the nation, millions of Americans stood up against the lawlessness, cruelty, and unchecked power of the Trump administration.

Meet Catharyne. She’s a nurse and she’s fighting to protect her patients from hospital closures.
And so are we. House Democrats are fighting to save health care so that it can remain as accessible and affordable as possible.
It’s childish. It’s reckless. It’s dangerous. The Speaker’s job is to lead, not to hide from responsibility. This is not leadership. It’s egregious negligence.
He also canceled votes for yet another week, giving House Republicans more paid vacation while federal workers, including our troops, continue to work without pay.
Today, he once again refused to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva, denying the people of Arizona’s 7th District their voice in Congress, even with a pro forma session on the calendar.
It’s Day 17 of the Republican shutdown — and it’s another day that Speaker Johnson puts politics before the American people.
