Julia Brownley

Julia Andrews Brownley is an American businesswoman and politician who has been the United States representative for California's 26th congressional district since 2013. A Democrat, she served in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012. Before her political career, she worked in marketing and sales.

Trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve is the foundation of public safety. Across the country, there have been alarming reports of federal agents detaining individuals while concealing their identities, hiding behind masks, and refusing to identify themselves.
Yesterday, I sent a letter to DHS Secretary Noem and Acting ICE Director Lyons demanding immediate answers about these raids including who was arrested, where they are being held, and whether civil rights and due process were violated.
During yesterday’s immigration enforcement operation in Camarillo, Jaime Garcia, a father and a farmworker, fell 30 feet from a building while running in fear for his life. He is now on life support with a broken neck and skull, and he is not expected to survive.
We can’t keep asking people to build this country while denying them a place in it. If we truly believe in fairness, hard work, and family, then we must act like it. That starts with creating a real path to citizenship for hardworking people in communities across this country.
