To those who say this tragedy should not be politicized: it is the NRA’s politics that have allowed gun violence to become the leading cause of death for children in America.

These children were praying when they fell victim to the gun violence epidemic that continues to plague our nation. Thoughts and prayers will never be enough.
My heart is broken for the children and families devastated by the horrific mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.
Our democracy depends on it, and so does our nation’s promise of equality for all.
While progress has been made, the fight for equality is far from over. We must protect the right to vote, achieve equal pay for equal work, safeguard reproductive freedom, and ensure women have the opportunity to succeed and thrive in every aspect of life.
On this Women’s Equality Day, we celebrate that achievement and honor the brave women of the suffrage movement. But we must also face the truth: today, the right to vote is under attack.
105 years ago, the 19th Amendment became part of the Constitution, granting American women the right to vote.
Every student deserves a quality education, and I’m working to ensure our schools and teachers have the resources they need to prepare the next generation for a brighter future.
As a former school board member, I know how important it is that our students and educators have the tools and support they need to thrive.
It’s Back to School Month! Wishing all the students, families, teachers, and staff across #VenturaCounty and the Conejo Valley a happy and successful start to the school year.

Stay safe and take precautions:
💧 Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water
👕 Wear light, loose clothing
🏠 Limit time outdoors when possible
🚨 Know the signs of heat exhaustion & heat stroke
⚠️ Extreme Heat and Red Flag Warning for #VenturaCounty and Conejo Valley
Temperatures are expected to soar over 100°F Wednesday through Sunday, with a Red Flag Warning in mountain areas from Wednesday - Saturday due to high winds, low humidity, and dangerous fire conditions.
And I will continue fighting for a future where every student is supported, safe, and free to pursue their dreams.
Crippling our public education system does not make America great. In partnership with school leaders and parents across our region, we are working to ensure every child has access to the resources they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
I recently met with Ventura County Superintendent of Schools Dr. César Morales and local school district superintendents to hear firsthand how the current political climate and reckless immigration activities are disrupting our community and destabilizing our education system.
As a former school board member, I know that when budgets are squeezed, it is students’ emotional and educational supports that are often the first to go. That is unacceptable.
The loss in revenue from declining enrollment and the looming uncertainty regarding federal funding is draining resources and leaving fewer dollars for the programs and services our children need.
Ventura County’s enrollment for K-12 schools was already in decline, and these callous detentions and apprehensions are making matters worse.
As schools across Ventura County and the Conejo Valley begin a new year, what should be a time of excitement and opportunity is instead filled with fear and uncertainty for too many students and their families.
