From attacking the federal workforce to eroding judicial independence to using the military against our own cities, Trump has weakened the very institutions designed to protect our freedoms – all while failing to deliver on his promise to: lower costs for working families.

While Speaker Johnson sent the House home early to shield the President from scandal and avoid accountability, I will keep fighting for you.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, Rep. Marilyn Strickland explains how Republicans are breaking their promise to lower costs with a Big, Ugly Law that makes life more expensive.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @susielee.house.gov discusses how Trump and Republicans’ Big Ugly Law is blatantly unfair for working families.
I introduced this bill to ensure federal employees can access the records they are rightfully entitled to and without delay.
Many were fired after hours or forced to hand over their devices on the spot, losing access to critical personnel documents and left without the paperwork needed to move forward, both professionally and personally.
To make matters worse, they have shown a blatant disregard for these workers by delaying or outright denying access to personnel files that contain critical documents needed to file taxes, apply for new jobs, or claim unemployment benefits.
In a reckless and egregious overreach of power, the Trump administration has carried out mass firings and used aggressive tactics to intimidate and push federal employees out of their jobs.
To make matters worse, they have shown a blatant disregard for these workers by delaying or outright denying access to personnel files that contain critical documents needed to file taxes, apply for new jobs, or claim unemployment benefits.

"As long as VA's workforce continues to suffer, all aspects of VA care, including community care, will suffer." - @juliabrownley.house.gov
We are calling for answers. We are demanding oversight. And we will not remain silent while women’s health, safety, and dignity are violated behind closed doors by agencies sworn to uphold the law.

That is why the @demwomencaucus.bsky.social is demanding a full and immediate investigation into ICE and CBP’s treatment of women in their custody.
When a pregnant woman begs for medical care and is ignored until her child is stillborn, something is profoundly broken. When a nine-months-pregnant U.S. citizen is shoved to the ground by federal agents, it demands more than outrage. It demands action.
Women in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, including those who are pregnant or postpartum, are being violently detained, denied critical medical care, and subjected to inhumane treatment.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @repstansbury.bsky.social busts the myths behind Trump’s Big, Ugly law. The truth? It hikes your utility bills by $400 — just to hand out giveaways to billionaires and Big Oil CEOs.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social won’t stand by silently. We’re fighting for truth, for public safety, and for a future where every family has the tools to thrive.
This isn’t about fiscal responsibility or helping working families. It’s about giving billionaires more tax cuts and shifting the burden onto hardworking families.
And while doing nothing to protect public schools, they went after PBS KIDS, threatening Sesame Street and the programming children depend on.
They voted to defund agencies dismantled illegally at Elon Musk’s direction. They cut emergency alerts and local news coverage — even as communities across the country are devastated by wildfires, floods, and storms.
Now, they have the audacity to slash $9 billion from lifesaving programs and call it “cutting waste, fraud, and abuse.” This is not just hypocritical, it’s egregious.
