This is a bad bill and every Senator should vote NO! bsky.app/profile/beye...
Trump and Musk are illegally shutting down federal agencies, mass firing federal workers, and freezing congressionally mandated funding. It's causing massive job losses and economic chaos for my constituents far worse any shutdown. The Republican CR would perpetuate this status quo. I will vote no.
Mahmoud Khalil must be released, the Trump Administration must answer for his detention, and these attacks on First Amendment rights must end.
🚨BREAKING: With @raskin.house.gov & @scanlon.house.gov, I’m leading 100+ House Democrats in demanding answers on Mahmoud Khalil’s arrest. Trump’s attempt to deport Khalil is authoritarian & an attack on the First Amendment. We won’t sit quietly as his administration tries to dismantle free speech.
Elon Musk rehired the person who said he was “racist before it was cool” and put him on the team responsible for SSA firings - an agency with one of highest proportions of Black workers. The GOP demean qualified hires if they are Black or women as “DEI hires” while empowering unqualified racists.
FoxNews reports Trump and Vought are already planning to steal funding from the Republican (de)funding bill (aka "the CR") and it hasn't even passed! They're planning to violate a law they haven't even enacted yet. Why would anyone vote for this? Nobody should! www.foxnews.com/politics/sco...
Amid an opioid epidemic and mental health crisis, Trump is cutting vital care for millions of Americans. SAMHSA oversees the 9-8-8 Lifeline, which provides critical help to Americans in crisis. Gutting their work will raise risks of deaths by suicide and overdose. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/12/h...
Raúl Grijalva faced his fight with cancer with the same courage he showed fighting for his constituents and for the poor and underprivileged across this country. He was my colleague, my chairman, and my friend, and I'll miss him dearly. My best to his family, friends, and staff.
Rich oil executives and polluting corporations who bankrolled Trump's campaign are getting exactly what they paid for. It's corrupt as hell, and I will be working with colleagues at @houseseec.bsky.social to shine a light on it and fight back. More here: seec.house.gov/media/press-...
I joined @markey.senate.gov and colleagues in speaking out against the attacks on climate coming from this White House and the threat it poses to the livelihood of future generations. The EPA’s responsibility is to protect the American public, not to fulfill the fossil fuel industry’s wish list.
As American communities suffer the devastating impacts of climate change, the Trump administration is dismantling vital efforts that keep our air and water clean and limit carbon pollution. The American people pay the price while oil & gas billionaires line their pockets. apnews.com/article/trum...

I cosponsored legislation introduced by @replamonica.bsky.social to reinstate ALL of these wrongly fired employees - with back pay. Obviously the legislative outlook is difficult with Republicans in the majority but Congress *could* do this if enough members supported it. bsky.app/profile/repl...
30,000+ federal workers have been unfairly fired in DOGE’s political purge. These firings targeted food safety specialists, highway workers, health researchers, and more, jeopardizing all of us. My MERIT Act would give these critical employees their jobs back with the back pay they deserve.
Huge, excellent news. This affects tens of thousands of federal workers who were illegally fired by Musk and Trump without cause.
NEWS: A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to offer reinstatement to thousands of fired probationary employees at the Departments of Defense, Treasury, Agriculture, Energy, Interior and Veterans Affairs. Judge Alsup is also demanding sworn testimony from a senior OPM official.
This provides still more reason to vote against continuing the status quo of Trump-inflicted destruction of the federal government and mass firings of federal workers, if any were needed. I will be joining colleagues to conduct vigorous oversight of this matter. 5/5
Trump and Musk’s abysmal abuse of the federal civil service is only getting worse, and the loss of these workers and their expertise will further harm the delivery of key services to the American people – in this case to our students. /4
All just to put a few more dollars into billionaires' pockets—truly disgusting. Education Department workers, many of whom I represent, learned of their terminations last night in waves that heavily targeted student aid workers and civil rights office staff, and eliminated entire offices. 3/
