Republicans' Child Predator Empowerment Act does not protect women. What it does do is open young women and girls up to invasive physical examination, regardless of how they identify.
It’s invasive and increases the risk of abuse. I voted no.

Happy Korean American Day!
From the first Korean immigrants who arrived in Hawaii in 1903 to the vibrant communities we see today, including here in Virginia’s 8th District, Korean Americans continue play a pivotal role in shaping American society and culture!
I was a leading advocate in the fight to protect funding for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, identified by astronomers and astrophysicists as the top priority project for the coming decade.
Thrilled to see this project nearing completion!

A somber statistic: 2024 marks the first year global temperatures exceed the warning limit of 1.5 degrees Celsius.
The climate crisis is serious – and it’s here now. Immediate, decisive action is critical to ensure a livable planet for future generations.

As grizzlies continue to face threats to their survival, I’m encouraged by the decision to reinforce federal protections for their recovery under the Endangered Species Act.
Grizzly bears are an iconic American species, and we must do all we can to protect them!

With yet another excellent jobs report released this morning, the U.S. economy added over 2 million jobs in 2024!
That marks 4 years of historic, record-busting job gains and extremely low unemployment.

I have long opposed offshore drilling off the Virginia coast, which is a threat to our environment and the recreation and tourism economies which depend on it. Glad to see this step to protect Virginia’s coastal communities.

Frances Perkins was a trailblazer who (with some help from my grandmother) advised FDR on shaping the New Deal, including Social Security, the minimum wage, and so much more. Love to see the new national monument honoring Secretary Perkins’ legacy!

That is how it's supposed to be: the peaceful transfer of power.
Vice President Kamala Harris set the example. She didn't lie, or try to overturn the outcome, or incite violence; she did her job and presided over certification.
That is what putting our country first looks like.
Four years ago insurrectionists incited by Donald Trump attacked the seat of American democracy in an attempt to overturn an election.
Many seek to erase this event from history, but they will fail. We honor the officers who protected the Capitol, some of whom are no longer with us.
Casting my first vote of the 119th Congress, and as many more as it takes, for @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social for Speaker!
Excellent news: the $2,000 yearly cap on Medicare prescription drug costs just kicked in!
This is one of many cost-saving measures enacted by Democrats in the Inflation Reduction Act -- every Republican in Congress voted against it.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!
Jimmy Carter lived a life of kindness, compassion, and decency.
He never forgot his roots as a Navy veteran and peanut farmer, never stopped fighting racism and oppression, and never stopped helping others or working to make the world a better place.
A great human being.
Chag Urim Sameach! Happy first night of Hanukkah to all celebrating the festival of lights.
