On December 14, 2012, 20 children and 6 educators were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.   11 years later, guns are the leading cause of death for American children. We must do so much more to address the toll gun violence continues to take. America’s children deserve better.
More than half of all abortions in the U.S. are performed via medication. It is safe, effective, and less invasive than surgical procedures.   I urge the court to follow the science and protect patient’s access to mifepristone. Women deserve safe, accessible health care.
The Texas Supreme Court reversed a lower court’s ruling that would’ve allowed a woman to obtain a legal abortion under a medical emergency exception. This is extremely dangerous. Abortion is health care – and women should not be forced to travel out of state to receive essential health care.
I worked with Shopify to convene a group of community small business owners to discuss a wide range of policy issues impacting their ability to run and grow their companies. I’ll keep working to ensure Congress helps, not harms local small businesses.
FULL STEAM AHEAD: We are thrilled to announce a $𝟳𝟮𝟵 𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 investment in Virginia rail projects including the Long Bridge Project thanks to the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act! This is a huge deal for Virginia infrastructure!!!
Congressman Don Beyer speaking at a podium, behind a large check that reads $719 million for Transforming Rail in Virginia.
Monitoring the emergency response to a major explosion in the Bluemont neighborhood of Arlington tonight. This is very, very scary, and my profound thanks go out to first responders working to secure the area and keep everyone safe.
Last year, Congress passed the most important gun violence prevention law in 28 years. It’s making a difference: “The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act has also led to the seizure of over 1,300 guns, including 190 AR-style rifles that are frequently a weapon of choice in mass shooting attacks…”
The Biden Administration remains committed to lowering costs, and its newly announced actions to expand the capacity and resiliency of our supply chains and speed up the movement of goods will do just that. Smoother operations mean lower prices and more cash in American pockets.
Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’ve been able to support more than 40,000 projects across the country. That means better roads, better bridges, better transit, better airports, better jobs.   A game-changing investment in the American people!
