This week, I held an immigration roundtable with community representatives. Trump’s dangerous anti-immigrant agenda is hurting families here and nationwide. We discussed the need for legislative action and working locally to ensure that NE Ohio is safe and welcoming to all.
So glad I  joined the Intercity Yacht Club & heard about their efforts to lift up our community. When resources were scarce for Black folks, they stood up for us. Now, they're expanding to offer youth & workforce opportunities & I'm so glad I could be there for the unveiling.
161,385 Ohioans have lost ACA health care coverage following the Trump health care cuts according to official data. This is a 32% drop, the worst in the country. While Trump builds a ballroom to himself, thousands of Ohioans can no longer get the basic health care they need.
If we can learn anything from our history, it's that progress is never given. It is sustained by those who are willing to stand up and fight back. Today, we honor our past by continuing the fight for a future where all our voices are heard. We didn't back down then, and we can't start now. 2/2
Sixty years ago today, the Civil Rights Act was signed into law. As we celebrate the hard-fought victories won, I can't help but reflect on how current efforts to gut voting rights remind us that the fight to make our voices heard in our government is far from over.  🧵1/2
