When architect Eero Saarinen designed the Gateway Arch, it was his vision for the park to stretch across the river into Illinois — a vision that local leaders like Malcolm W. Martin fought to realize.
I couldn’t be prouder to be part of the coalition carrying out their legacy.

Who would have thought that letting an unelected billionaire take a chainsaw to our federal government would have negative consequences?
Government cuts under Trump’s second term weakened US emergency, security, and foreign response capabilities, now under scrutiny amid Middle East conflict. https://cnn.it/3P1jy9x
I’m going to keep fighting for these investments that drive innovation, support our growers, and bolster our rural economies.
I was thrilled to join Deputy Governor Andy Manar in Champaign for a conversation about biomanufacturing! I’ve always said that Central and Southern Illinois is America’s “Silicorn Valley” and our region’s leadership has only grown since we secured the iFAB Tech Hub designation.
Excited to join @repwesleybellmo.bsky.social and the Gateway Arch Park Foundation this afternoon to announce first steps to expand Gateway Arch National Park into Illinois! This project will bring opportunity, energy, and investment to the Metro East.
I’m proud to receive a 💯 on the Alliance for Retired Americans legislative scorecard! Whether it's advocating for the Older Americans Act or fighting to protect Social Security and Medicare, I’ll always work to ensure our seniors can thrive during their golden years.
Gas prices are up 17% since President Trump launched strikes on Iran. The American people don’t want another endless war in the Middle East and they certainly don’t want to be paying more at the gas pump at a time when costs are already way too high.
I’m proud that my team has helped park districts in Champaign, Springfield, and Grandview get state funding for projects and upgrades! With federal grants uncertain under the Trump Administration, I met with local leaders to talk about how we can ensure our communities get the resources they need.
I’m honored to be named a Legislative Leader by the Humane World Action Fund! I’d like to dedicate this award to my dog, Lulu. 🐾
The 2026 Congressional Art Competition is underway! Open to all high schoolers in IL-13, this contest is an opportunity to have your art displayed in the U.S. Capitol. Submissions are due Friday, April 17th. 🎨
Happy International Women’s Day! Today is a special day to celebrate the incredible women who strengthen our communities. Together, let’s keep fighting to ensure every woman and girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential.
I’m honored to receive the Equal Rights Champion Award from the ERA Coalition! I will always stand up for women’s rights and fight to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, which would codify gender equality in our Constitution.
I was thrilled to bring together leaders from America’s postal unions for the first roundtable of the Congressional Postal Service Caucus! Ensuring the future of USPS begins by protecting the postal employees whose hard work keeps this lifeline running each and every day.
President Trump is spending billions of taxpayer dollars on his irresponsible, deadly war with Iran – all while he slashes healthcare and nutrition assistance for Americans.
This is one of the many reasons I voted to stop Trump from continuing this conflict.
As the representative for one of America’s top ag research institutions – the University of Illinois – I know how important global collaboration is to make scientific breakthroughs that support our farmers, fight hunger, and save lives. We can’t let the U.S. retreat from these vital partnerships.
That is upside down. I will continue fighting for a solution that keeps our communities safe and ensures accountability, while guaranteeing public servants are paid for the vital work they do.
Let me be clear: I am ready and willing to fund TSA, FEMA, and anti-terrorism efforts to ensure hardworking public servants get their paychecks and Americans are protected from real threats. But Republicans would rather these folks go without pay than demand reform & accountability for ICE and CBP.
Just this week, ICE agents detained four workers in Bethalto in my district. When this administration said they were going after criminals, they lied. These actions, on top of the horrors we’ve witnessed over the last year, are why I cannot and have not supported additional funding for ICE.
We need a serious push for diplomacy and a clear plan to prevent this from spiraling further. Our troops’ safety and stability in the region depend on it.
President Trump promised to end “forever wars” and lower costs on day one. Instead, six servicemembers have been killed, gas prices are up, and Republicans are more concerned with entangling us in unauthorized foreign wars than making everyday life easier for Americans.
