If Republicans let healthcare tax credits expire, 23,000 people in CD5 will see their healthcare costs go up.
Prices are high enough already. We need to be making care more affordable, not less.

Now that we’re in a shutdown, our federal firefighters are being forced to work without pay – that’s unacceptable.
That’s why I introduced the Federal Firefighter Paycheck Protection Act.
It’s day 3️⃣ of the Republican shutdown.
We need a budget that reverses healthcare cuts and puts the American people first – it’s time for them to come to the table.
Deploying troops to Portland is a waste of money and a distraction from the fact that the Trump administration has stolen millions of dollars from projects across our state.
Run us our money.

Everywhere I go in CD5, people tell me they need healthcare costs to go down.
I’ll keep fighting until everyone has access to the care they need where they need it and whenever they need it.
Republicans may have shut down the government, but my office is still open!
We’re here answering your calls, meeting with constituents, and working for CD5.
If you need anything, give us a call at (503)387-8651!
Members should play by the same rules as the people they represent.
It would not be right for me to continue to be paid while public servants in Oregon are not receiving their salaries through no fault of their own.
That's why, until the government reopens, I will be withholding my pay.
CD5, it is your stories that fuel this fight.
If you’ve been impacted by the government shutdown, I want to hear from you – you can share your stories with me at the link below ⬇️

The President is hiding from the fact that he’s stolen millions of dollars from our state.
We don’t want your troops in our city – we want you to run us our money.
Last night, Republicans decided they’d rather shut down the government than make healthcare more affordable.
We need a budget that centers the American people – not billionaires. They need to quit playing games and get to work.
Republicans just shut down the government.
I don’t mess around when it comes to our city.
We don’t want this, and we don’t need this.

No matter the audience, my message is the same: Republicans own this shutdown.
The ball is in their court.
Time is running out for Republicans to put the American people first and keep the government open.
If we shut down tonight, it's on them.
If Republicans can’t get keep the government open, our federal firefighters will have to work without pay. Today, I introduced a bill to change that.
The Federal Firefighter Paycheck Protection Act ensures our firefighters are compensated and won’t be fired during a shutdown.
As we head towards a government shutdown, I want to make sure you have all of the resources you need.
Visit my website for more information about the state of play, what a shutdown means for you, and which services might be interrupted.

Thank you to the nearly 13,000 of you who joined my telephone town hall last night to talk about the looming shutdown and Trump’s attempt to take over Portland.
I’m in DC fighting for you – thank you for being in this fight with me.
We didn't ask for Trump's intervention, and we don't need it.
What our city actually needs is for him to run us our money.
🚨TELEPHONE TOWN HALL TODAY 🚨
This evening at 5:30PM PT, I’ll be hosting an open-to-all telephone town hall to talk all things shutdown and Trump’s attempted takeover of Portland.
If you’d like to listen in, you can visit my website: bynum.house.gov/TTH
We need to reverse the healthcare cuts and start making real progress on lowering costs, but it’s clear that Republicans have no interest in doing that.
Instead, they’re shutting down the government.
