“We all are going to die” — Senator Ernst “They’ll get over it” — Senator McConnell “It’s immaterial” — VP Vance This is what Republicans think about ripping healthcare away from 16 million working class Americans to fund more tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefit their wealthy donors.
Rural families and hospitals in states like Missouri are already struggling to stay afloat. Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will only exacerbate the rural healthcare crisis by defunding local providers and ripping healthcare away from hardworking Missourians. We must #KillTheBill
WATCH: I traveled to rural parts of Missouri to hear from patients and providers directly Their message to lawmakers considering Medicaid cuts that would impact their funding? "There is no more fat to trim" www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-pre...
The President’s tariff taxes, funding freezes, and general recklessness are already having an impact on the economy, leading to negative GDP and a slowdown from consumers. Now, watch what happens if the GOP rips healthcare away from 16 million Americans and makes the largest cut to SNAP in history.
US economy shrank much faster in the first quarter than previously reported as consumers reined in their spending
Today, we celebrate #EqualityDay and the landmark SCOTUS decisions in Lawrence, Windsor, & Obergefell in the fight for LGBTQI+ equality. I'm proud to be working with @equality.house.gov in upholding the promise of these rulings & our Constitution for LGBTQI+ Americans.
Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill is the most fiscally irresponsible legislation in generations. It would rip healthcare away from 16 million Americans, make the largest cut to SNAP in history, and add trillions to the national debt—all to fund more tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires.
Republicans claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility, but then they vote for one of the most expensive bills in history. Here’s how they’re spinning it:
Our local firefighters sacrifice so much to keep our communities safe. Today, I had the opportunity to meet with the IAFF and the loved ones of those who made the ultimate sacrifice to discuss ways in which we can invest in and better protect these heroes. Thank you for all that you do.
The only way to tackle this crisis is by working together—which is why I'm championing the Rural Housing Service Reform Act to cut through unnecessary red tape & strengthen federal rural housing programs. Because everyone deserves an affordable place to call home! cleaver.house.gov/media-center...
As Americans in every community continue to struggle with our national housing affordability crisis, I was grateful to speak with members of the Council for Affordable and Rural Housing (CARH) to discuss ways in which Congress can lower housing costs in Rural America.
I was proud to help pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to help #EndGunViolence. In the three years since, we’ve closed the “boyfriend” loophole, expanded background checks, enhanced federal prosecutors’ abilities to target dangerous illegal gunrunners, and more.
The president’s dangerous, unconstitutional, and unilateral decision to strike Iran—which put American troops & civilians at risk, while wasting hundreds of millions of dollars—has apparently failed to destroy Iran’s nuclear program. Diplomacy, like the JCPOA, is the best path to maintaining peace.
CNN Exclusive: Early US intel suggests American strikes did not destroy Iran's nuclear sites and likely only set the program back by months, sources say. cnn.it/4nh2JUF
“Under Trump so far, it is taking at least double the time to process a claim than it did under Biden.” The president’s assault on federal workers is leading to worse service and longer delays for seniors seeking assistance with Social Security. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
“They’ll get over it” No, 16 million Americans will not get over having their healthcare ripped away from them because of the callousness of congressional Republicans.
The Senate is making Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill even uglier for states like Missouri, ensuring our local hospitals lose much-needed funding and families are kicked off their healthcare. I’ll keep fighting to prevent this disaster from becoming law.
Just last week I had the chance to visit Literacy KC, and I know for certain that these cuts would hit organizations doing the work to build community through literacy education hard, but the people who rely on them even harder. I’m fighting back because literacy isn’t optional – it’s essential.
