President Trump’s purge of the Department of Education is an attempt to dismantle the public education system that has made the U.S. a global leader in scientific research and created economic prosperity for millions of Americans. All to fund a tax cut that overwhelming benefits the wealthiest 1%.
The Department of Education will begin sweeping layoffs tonight with about half of its 4,400 employees expected to be let go, sources tell CNN. Read more: cnn.it/41IhB4h
Always a pleasure to sit down with city leaders from #MO05 to discuss how Congress can support local initiatives that will strengthen economic development and public safety for Missouri families. Thanks to Mayor DeLong of North Kansas City and Mayor Baird of Lee’s Summit for your time this week!
The Trump Admin’s detention and attempted deportation of Mahmoud Khalil, without charging him with a crime, is a chilling assault on the First Amendment and every American’s right to free speech. Whatever you think of his views, stripping him of his rights makes it easier to strip you of yours.
BREAKING: Judge orders the Trump administration not to deport a Palestinian activist pending legal fight over his detention.
Housing and homeownership are the foundation upon which American families can climb the economic ladder and build generational wealth. It’s about time that Congress took action to revive the American Dream of homeownership and expand access to affordable housing!
The GOP walked away from bipartisan budget negotiations to push a partisan bill that cuts nearly $23 billion in veterans’ benefits, slashes funding for health care and affordable housing, and enables Elon Musk to continue gutting critical services that Missourians depend on.
Republicans control the House. Republicans control the Senate. Republicans control the White House. If there is a government shutdown, it will be because Republicans want one.
“These are real human beings and they’re being pushed around like they’re checkers and inanimate objects. And I think that’s wrong.” As federal workers in #MO05 face ongoing harassment from DOGE, I’ll keep fighting to protect these public servants. www.kansascity.com/news/politic...
A reprieve - but the economic uncertainty caused by these erratic and reckless trade policies has already harmed consumers. We need stable, predictable trade strategies that foster growth, not policies that jeopardize our economic well-being.
“The Trump administration claims gutting federal agencies will save money, but cutting the IRS means the government collects less taxes. " ‘If you’re interested in the deficit and curbing it, why would you cut back on the revenue side?’ "” bit.ly/4ibMQvH
Deeply concerned by DHS's decision to end the collective bargaining agreement for thousands of TSA employees. These workers keep us safe every day – they deserve a voice on the job, not union-busting tactics. I stand in solidarity with TSA workers and their right to fair representation.
BREAKING: Homeland Security is ending a collective bargaining agreement with tens of thousands of TSA employees, marking a major attack on worker rights.
Proud to join Rep. Mike Lawler, Senators @coons.senate.gov, & Kevin Cramer to introduce the Choice in Affordable Housing act. This bipartisan bill expands access to rental assistance & helps more families find safe, stable, affordable housing.
Trump’s cruelty knows no bounds. He’s now planning to revoke legal status for 240,000 Ukrainians who fled Putin’s war—just days after his embarrassing Oval Office meeting where he refused to commit to helping Ukraine. Turning our backs on our allies and refugees is disgraceful.
(Reuters) - Trump's administration is planning to revoke temporary legal status for some 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the conflict with Russia, a senior Trump official and three sources familiar with the matter said, potentially putting them on a fast-track to deportation. reuters.com/world/us/trump…
Generations of Americans marched, fought, & even died for the right to vote. We can’t allow extremists to threaten their legacy & undermine our democracy. I joined @housedemocrats.bsky.social to introduce the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act & protect the right to vote for ALL Americans!
