Pre-inauguration activities are underway in DC.
Say it ain’t so, Mickey!
I did not attend the inaugural 2017 and won’t be attending today. I’m in Memphis where Martin Luther King is being honored on his day.In 2017 I joined , my dear friend, John Lewis in protest. Today I do so in the spirit of John Lewis and Dr.King and Maya Angelou.

President Biden’s historic clemency for nearly 2,500 nonviolent drug offenders is a critical step toward justice. As the leader in Congress for reclassifying marijuana from a Schedule 1 substance and ending outdated drug policies, I applaud POTUS for righting these wrongs and restoring families.

Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, #Medicare is negotiating lower prices for 15 more drugs, from cancer treatments to Ozempic. Medicare NEVER had this ability before the IRA—it's delivering real savings.
I’m TN's only member of Congress today who voted for it & I’ll keep fighting to protect it.

$12.7 MILLION is coming to Memphis & Shelby County for homelessness programs—part of the largest federal investment of its kind. These funds will transform lives and give thousands a chance to get back on their feet. Proud to work with the Biden administration to deliver for our community.

🚨NEW: I introduced the Constitutional Emoluments Protection of American Interests Act to stop federal funds from lining Trump's pockets.
In his first term, Trump blatantly violated the Constitution’s Emoluments clauses & shamelessly profited off the presidency. This corruption must be stopped.
Thank you to @ericswalwell.bsky.social, @repgwenmoore.bsky.social, @juliabrownley.house.gov, and Rep. Danny K. Davis for joining me as original cosponsors of the Private Student Loan Bankruptcy Fairness Act. More on the bill here: cohen.house.gov/media-center...
Private #StudentLoans should be dischargeable in bankruptcy like they were before 2005. No one chooses bankruptcy lightly but it should be a safety net so people aren't trapped in debt for life.
To restore fairness for borrowers, I reintroduced the Private Student Loan Bankruptcy Fairness Act.

President Biden's move to lift Cuba’s state sponsor of terrorism designation is the right call & long overdue. Trump's 2021 designation was baseless. The Castros are gone—it’s time to build on Obama-era progress, and Trump shouldn't reverse this step and take us back to a Cold War mindset.
I reintroduced this bill less than 10 days ago, and it's great to start the year with a win for transparency. The Senate should act quickly to pass it. More here: cohen.house.gov/media-center...
The TVA was created by Congress, it's home to the nation's highest paid federal employee, but for years they've been exempt from disclosing info on their highest-paid employees. That has to end, and tonight my bipartisan TVA Salary Transparency Act passed the House by a unanimous vote of 423-0.
