I joined my colleagues demanding the Homeland Security Committee hold an oversight hearing on FEMA’s response to the devastating floods in Central Texas—especially in light of Secretary Noem waiting 3 days before sending FEMA search and rescue teams.
After devastating flooding began in Central Texas, @SecNoem waited 3 days to approve FEMA search and rescue teams.
During disasters, every second matters. Noem must answer for this delay. www.cnn.com/2025/07/09/p...
I am deeply grateful to the firefighters and first responders who traveled from Mexico to work with American teams to save lives in Central Texas after devastating floods. There have been countless displays of sacrifice and courage amid this tragedy. www.expressnews.com/news/texas/a...

It seems to me that an intruder who purports to be a federal agent but refuses to present a warrant, badge, or identification supporting that contention should be subject to arrest and detention by local law enforcement at the least.
Families have been devastated by catastrophic flooding in Central Texas. The number of people lost continues to grow. We need to do better.
To save lives, leaders at every level must come together to find solutions that prevent future tragedies. My latest statement below.
I am heartbroken to learn that several people have tragically lost their lives in the flash floods that struck Kerr County. I urge everyone to use caution, get to higher ground, and stay safe. www.tpr.org/2025-07-04/k...
Happy Fourth of July, San Antonio! Today we celebrate our country’s independence and freedom.
The Big Ugly Bill will hurt Texas families at every stage of life. It will eliminate SNAP benefits for children, cut financial aid for students, slash support for long-term nursing home care, and so much more. Now the fight begins to undo the damage.
Republicans had the choice to protect their jobs or do the right thing for their constituents. They chose their jobs. All because they’re scared of Donald Trump. It’s shameful.
This is a big, ugly bill that will devastate hard working families in Texas and across the country.
My full statement:
Many Republicans know the Big Ugly Bill will cost people their lives. Some want to vote NO but they’re scared of crossing Donald Trump.
So I let them know exactly what’s at stake and the choice they have to make.

Only four Republican NO-votes would tank the spending bill. For the sake of 17 million Americans in jeopardy of losing their healthcare, I hope they find the courage.
The GOP spending bill will make Texans sicker, ripping away healthcare from 1.6 million people.
The GOP spending bill includes $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid, leaving 1.6 million Texans without healthcare. This will hurt so many folks, including our kids.
Texas has the highest rate of uninsured people in the nation. The GOP spending bill would decimate Medicaid funding, making it even harder for Texas families to get the healthcare they need. www.expressnews.com/lifestyle/ar...
I am praying for the firefighters who lost their lives by a horrific act of violence while in the line of duty—and for the entire Idaho community they served.

The governor is rejecting $450 mil meaning that 3.8 million Texas children will go hungry. He’s not acting alone. In Congress, Republicans are jeopardizing food assistance programs that help hard working Texas families put food on the table. It’s shameful. www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/tex...

“What's happening now is that they're bending the intelligence to suit whatever the president wants and that's dangerous for the United States.”
Rep Joaquin Castro tells @mehdirhasan.bsky.social that Iran posed no ‘imminent threat’ and that the president was dishonest about his assessment of Iran
