The federal minimum wage hasn't been raised in 15 years. For 15 years, rent has gone up. Groceries are more expensive. Utility bills are higher. For 15 years, corporations got bigger. Billionaires got richer. And working Americans got screwed. Americans deserve a raise.
FEMA just cut Austin's $50 million grant for flood prevention and disaster recovery. Trump and Musk think that money should go towards tax cuts for billionaires. Austinites shouldn't be at risk of raw sewage flooding our communities so billionaires can buy a bigger yacht.
Trump’s reckless, across the board tariffs will cost families $3,800 per year. That may not be a lot to Donald Trump or Elon Musk — but it's way too much for working families to pay while billionaires get tax cuts.
Trump and Republicans in Congress want to make massive cuts to Medicaid. Eric from Austin has muscular dystrophy and called my office to share what Medicaid cuts could mean to him. Here's what I said when I called him back:
Donald Trump and Elon Musk are destroying Social Security. Phone lines are overwhelmed. The offices are understaffed. The website has crashed four times. Experts are saying the system is at risk of collapsing. Trump and Musk’s solution? Lay off thousands of more workers.
While Elon Musk makes $8 million a day off government contracts, he's firing Social Security workers so seniors have to travel in person and wait 4 hours to get help when the government mistakenly declares them "dead" and cuts off their benefits. Save Social Security. Fire Elon Musk.
Donald Trump announced his most dangerous attack yet on the rights of American workers. Last week's executive order fundamentally undercuts the labor rights Americans have counted on for 100 years. But Trump won't stop at federal workers. Your right to organize is next.
