You can’t kick 13.7 million people off Medicaid and get away with it. House Republicans' 'Big Bogus Bill' is a sneaky attempt to do just that—but the American people are noticing. And they’re speaking out. In Colorado and nationwide, people are standing up to save this life-saving program.
House Republicans don’t want you to know about their plans to gut Medicaid, so they're trying to pass Trump's so-called “One Big, Beautiful Bill" less than 48 hours after publishing it to distract & mislead you. Read my full statement.⬇️
Republicans in Congress want to kick at least 8.6 million Americans off their health care to give tax cuts to billionaires. Tomorrow, when this bill is before my committee, I am going to call out their brazen disrespect for their constituents’ well-being.
In the dead of the night, House Republicans on the Natural Resources Committee approved the sale of our public lands for pennies on the dollar to fund tax cuts for billionaires & big corporations. They’re taking a wrecking ball to our country to make Trump happy and enrich their billionaire pals.
I met my constituent, Jason, at a Medicaid listening session—his prescriptions are fully covered now, but they’d cost him $10K/month without Medicaid. Without this medicine, he could die. For Jason & millions more, I won't stand by while House Republicans try to gut this lifeline. Not on my watch.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office just announced that the cuts to Medicaid proposed by House Republicans would cause 5.4 million Americans to lose care. They want to kick millions of Americans off of their health care to give tax cuts to billionaires, and I'm fighting to stop them.
Nurses provide skilled & compassionate care to people of all ages, & this National Nurses Week, we honor their devotion to the health and well-being of their patients. To the 80,000+ registered nurses in Colorado and the millions more nationwide, thank you for the lifesaving work you do every day.
The Trump Administration is slashing staff at the National Cancer Institute & taking vital support away from cancer research. They are making it harder for doctors and patients to get lifesaving information while further ceding our leadership in biomedical research. This is a reckless decision.
🚨 Today, House Democrats are launching an effort to force a vote to protect Medicaid and SNAP from Republican budget cuts. If just 5 House Republicans join us, we can save these lifeline programs—for the millions of Americans who rely on Medicaid/CHIP and SNAP nationwide.
BREAKING: The Republican budget would make the largest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in American history. Ranking Member @congressmanboyle.bsky.social just introduced a discharge petition that — if just a few House Republicans sign — will force a vote to protect Medicaid and SNAP.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE! This week, House Republicans are pushing through a vote to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. For real. While our economy tanks and prices continue to rise, they are solely focused on stroking Trump’s ego. What a disgraceful waste of time.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to check in on yourself and those you love. Everyone deserves access to the care they need—that’s why @housedemocrats.bsky.social and I are fighting every day to strengthen health care, promote mental health parity, and improve access to care.
The math doesn’t lie—House Republicans do. You can’t cut $880 billion from Energy & Commerce’s jurisdiction without slashing Medicaid, which provides care for millions of kids, seniors, and people with disabilities.
This #TeacherAppreciationWeek, I'm proud to honor the 55,000+ educators across Colorado who dedicate their lives to shaping the next generation of leaders. Your passion, resilience, and commitment to our students inspire us all—thank you for everything you do.
Great to attend the grand opening of Warren Village at Alameda—a new campus to support families overcoming homelessness & housing instability. I was proud to help secure $4 million in federal funding for this project because I believe deeply in their mission to help Denverites succeed.
In CO, CPR’s tireless journalism keeps our communities informed. But Trump is gutting its parent company, NPR, because he doesn't like their coverage. If he takes issue with their reporting, the problem isn’t NPR—it’s him. I fought this on the Oversight Subcommittee last year and I’ll do it again.
Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! This month, we celebrate the AANHPI community and their important impact in Denver as well as our nation's history and culture.
Trump’s White House budget proposes slashing nearly $20 billion from the NIH—a 40% cut to lifesaving biomedical research. That means fewer breakthroughs to cure cancer, Alzheimer’s, & diabetes, all to fund his petty, reckless agenda. As top Dem on the Health Subcommittee, I won’t stand for it.
