January 6 is a reminder of how easily our democracy can be threatened, but in this time of democratic uncertainty, let it also be a testament to its resilience.

Republicans chose not to extend a three-year extension of the Affordable Care Act subsidies in December that would keep health care affordable for 143,000 CT residents this year.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social are forcing a vote this week.
Today, I join my colleagues in thanking the Capitol Police for their bravery. Every day, they work to protect our nation’s Capitol & those who work here.
They faced hell on January 6th, & despite the overwhelming violence, they protected our democracy & secured our Capitol.
January 6, 2021, was one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.
That day was not simply an attack on the Capitol building—it was an attack on our democracy, our Constitution, and the values we share as Americans.
For over 50 yrs the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has ensured Americans had access to local news, public safety information, & education programming for children.
Now, families & rural communities risk losing it all because of the Trump Administration.
Hardworking families deserve economic security and the peace of mind that the hours they work will be enough to provide for themselves and their families.
That is why Senator Warren and I introduced the Schedules That Work Act.

RFK Jr and President Trump continue putting the lives of children in danger.
The US Department of Health and Human Services will recommend fewer vaccines for most American children, a move that health experts fear could lead to a resurgence of preventable diseases. https://cnn.it/44UZM4B

Americans want affordable groceries and healthcare, not another foreign war to steal Venezuelan oil and enrich President Trump’s billionaire friends and donors.
The American people don't want to be dragged into another endless conflict distracting from the rising cost of living & the affordability crisis.
Whatever happens next, the responsibility will be squarely with President Trump & his contempt for the Constitution and for Congress.
I’m monitoring the aftermath of Waterbury’s water line break & will advocate for needed funding to upgrade aging infrastructure alongside the CT delegation & Mayor.
My staff helped distribute water during the crisis & I will always fight for investments in our infrastructure.
⚠️ **CT Winter Storm Alert** ⚠️
A winter storm is expected tonight. Prepare now: stock an emergency kit, food & meds, avoid travel, and keep warm.

Stay safe, Connecticut!
Wishing a joyful and peaceful Christmas to all who celebrate! May this season bring warmth, reflection, and hope.
Happy holidays from my family to yours.
This is unacceptable. Our veterans deserve to make their own healthcare decisions. The VA must reverse course.
Trump's plan to throw 170,000 people out of long-term housing and onto the streets has been blocked--for now.
I will continue to support funding for Continuum of Care, and oppose Trump's cruel efforts to destroy anti-homelessness programs.
President Trump is so determined to raise your energy prices that he is still attacking a project that is over 80 percent complete.
Revolution Wind is not a national security threat—it increases energy security and lowers costs for CT families. These absurd delays must stop.
The Government runs out of money on January 30th.
I'm the leading Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee. To my Republican colleagues: you have my number. I am ready whenever you are.

Trump’s message last night could not be further from the truth. The cost of living is rising while he slashes food & housing assistance & allows healthcare subsidies that people rely on expire.
People are feeling the reality Trump has created & struggling to afford basic needs.
To recap:
- Kristi allowed hate symbols to be downgraded to “potentially divisive”
- She then spent four weeks telling the American people not to believe the words DHS wrote
- Today she is finally backing down
It shouldn’t be this hard to condemn Nazis.
UNRWA continues to provide invaluable, life-saving services to millions of Gazans.
Political attacks such as this are dangerous for the success of the ceasefire as well as US partnership with the entire UN system.
