Juneteenth is a celebration — the anniversary of when the last enslaved Black Americans were freed. We carry the weight of slavery’s legacy every day. But today, we honor freedom. We honor joy. And we celebrate!
This is a glaring display of cruelty. 50% of LGBTQI+ young people who wanted mental health care in 2023 were unable to get it. Ripping away a lifeline in their darkest moment is unimaginable. This action will cost lives.
For me, fighting for labor and workers' rights is deeply personal. Thank you to Teamsters Local 433, for inviting me to partake in this important conversation to uplift our unions.
Today I had the honor of speaking at the Black Business Alliance in Milford on the importance of ending pay inequality.   Full-time working women in CT only make 84 cents for every $1 a man does. It’s time for Congress to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act & end pay discrimination.
Reverend Curtis Cofield II was a giant in the community who dedicated his life to advocacy. Today, I celebrated the opening of affordable housing units named after him. Every person deserves access to affordable housing, & I'm proud to see this vision become reality.
Congratulations to my constituent, Will Aronson, of Guilford for winning Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score for the show, MAYBE HAPPY ENDING. We are so proud of you!
Ukraine deserves our support. Democrats and Republicans have come together many times in the past to support this critical ally. Some Republicans are now turning their backs on the fight for freedom. Their weakness will echo across the world and throughout history.
Join Congresswoman DeLauro tomorrow at 6:00 pm for a Tele-Town Hall to expose Congressional Republican attacks on the healthcare of Americans. Tune in via Facebook or dial in at (855) 920-0553 See you soon!
Today we honor the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures whose love, care, and guidance strengthen our families and communities. Thank you for all you do to shape the lives of those you love.
Political violence has no place in America. I’m closely monitoring the situation in Minnesota and praying for the families of those who were killed or injured. This was a heinous act and the perpetrator must be swiftly brought to justice.
The use of force against California’s U.S. Senator Alex Padilla when he attempted to ask questions during Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference is the opposite of everything America stands for. My full statement:
The President should have acted with the governor, instead he has escalated and inflamed the situation. The President of the United States must follow the law. (7/7)
President Trump’s takeover of the California National Guard & deployment of our military into Los Angeles is a deliberate move to escalate tensions when local law enforcement had stated they did not require assistance. (6/7)
They are targeting and removing people who have been here 10 years, 20 years, even longer, people who are standup members of their communities and who have done nothing wrong. (5/7)
The Trump administration’s authoritarian crackdown is nothing more than political theater – an attempt to sow chaos and create false justifications for deploying the armed services into American neighborhoods. They are not laser-focused on deporting violent criminals. (4/7)
Former Secretary Mattis said in 2020, “Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people — does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us.” (3/7)
I condemn violent attacks on the police. Violent actors being prosecuted is right. All protests must be peaceful. And the vast majority of protestors are peaceful. Americans’ right to protest is sacred, and enshrined by the First Amendment. (2/7)
