If Trump gets his way, America will abandon our allies, strengthen our enemies, and surrender our influence. That isn’t America first—it’s America last. Join me and @democrats-appropriations.house.gov in our hearing on the State Department budget: youtu.be/JANo8Z8uv9A
Working families struggle to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. Meanwhile, Republicans are gutting public education to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.
Almost all American children attend public schools.    Republicans are working to end it and leave our kids behind.   Education empowers the American Dream—I will keep fighting to ensure Congress protects our children’s future.
Eliminating public education won’t help students. Firing half the staff and slashing billions in public school funding will only hurt kids, teachers, and working families. Join us at 10 AM as @democrats-appropriations.house.gov fight for your children’s education: t.co/1BAP3K9H0g
Republicans have managed to find rock bottom's basement. They're so ashamed of their tax scam that they decided to hold a vote in the dead of the night. They're hoping Americans will not pay attention to their pro-billionaire scheme. I will be watching. I hope you will, too.
I believe working families deserve better.   No American child should be held back from their full potential because they can’t afford food or healthcare.   Medicaid and SNAP saves lives.
In Connecticut, child care can cost more than college tuition. Families are living paycheck to paycheck & don’t make enough to raise a family. We must bolster funding for childcare so parents, especially mothers, don’t have to choose between raising a family or going to work.
This weekend I was honored to be in Rome for Pope Leo XIV’s first mass. I also had the opportunity to pay my respects to the late Pope Francis. His life was one of service to others, always centering the poor and most vulnerable – a true embodiment of Catholic social teaching.
The charges against Congresswoman McIver are a sham — plain & simple. This is an attack on Congress, our oversight powers, & anyone who challenges President Trump. She was doing her job. And we won’t be intimidated for doing ours. We stand with her — and we will not back down.
Today we celebrate 60 years of Head Start! Head Start has prepared over 40 million children for lifelong success through early childhood education. We cannot allow Republicans to end this program.
I was honored to join the Congressional Delegation that attended the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV. We are obligated by our faith to embody the lessons of Catholic social teaching. I will work every day to reflect these values in my work here in the Congress.

🚨 Just a reminder: Trade transparency isn’t optional—it’s urgent. Sen. Warren and Rep. DeLauro are demanding answers, citing ‪@wallachlori.bsky.social‬'s piece in Compact and saying what needs to be said: No more closed-door deals. No more corporate insiders calling the shots.
I am thinking of my friend, President Joe Biden, Dr. Biden, and their whole family. I am praying for your health and strength as you take up this fight.
Headed to the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV – the first American pope in history. Saying that doesn’t get old. 😊 Honored to worship with a leader who has pledged to follow in the footsteps of Pope Leo XIII and uphold the dignity of work and justice for the poor.
I just arrived in Vatican City to attend the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope.   I am honored to be here. Pope Leo XIV – I am praying for your wisdom and success as you move our faith forward.
This National Police Week, we honor the brave officers who gave their lives in the line of duty. My prayers are with the families of Aaron M. Pelletier and New Haven’s own Charles A. Hooper. Your service and dedication to protecting our communities will never be forgotten.
President Trump promised he would lower the cost of living for working families on Day 1. J.D. Vance campaigned on a $5,000 Child Tax Credit. These promises got them elected – and now they are breaking them to reward their billionaire donors and the biggest corporations.

The GOP Tax Scam takes health care away from nearly 14 million Americans, including kicking more than 8 million people off Medicaid. On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @degette.house.gov explains how we are fighting to stop this disastrous bill.
