Today's Tax Day is a reminder that Trump's $4 trillion tax cut for billionaires & corporations was financed by cuts to healthcare & food assistance. Families are struggling. The expanded, monthly Child Tax Credit would help with expenses. Republicans refuse to make it law.
Trump's DOJ has filed yet another wasteful and baseless lawsuit because their law enforcement serves the community, not him. I stand with Mayor Elicker, Gov Ned Lamont, and AG Tong against this attack on New Haven, Connecticut, and our residents.
American families are feeling the Trump Administrations chaos at home. Child care costs are at a record high. Congress must bring back the expanded monthly Child Tax Credit to help families keep up with high costs.
President Trump admits himself that gas prices will be higher – all because of the war he started with Iran. Most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. They cannot handle a price increase at the gas pump. We must end the war in Iran and focus on bringing down costs.
On Yom HaShoah we honor the memories of the six million innocent lives who were brutally murdered during the Holocaust. Antisemitism and hatred must be defeated.
Once again, the President is a disgrace to our country. As a Catholic, I stand with Pope Leo, who is an advocate for peace, not a politician. At a time when the world desperately needs it, he is a steady, committed voice for peace.
Pope Leo: "I have no fear of the Trump administration or speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do, what the Church is here to do."
I was proud to join local leaders in Woodmont to announce $750k in federal funding I secured for infrastructure to protect the Milford shoreline from erosion & nearby property from flooding. Thanks to the Burgesses & Mayor for your efforts to move this project forward.
ICE has targeted & detained a CT high school student, who entered legally & has no criminal record. His father, Zia, was an interpreter for U.S. troops in Afghanistan. This is a clear display of ICE's outrageous, misguided priorities & why I’m fighting for total reform.
New Haven Job Corps is open! After fighting against threats of closure by President Trump, I visited them to catch up with students & staff. I heard directly from students that the program is a lifeline for them - providing them with hope & a good-paying career after completion.
Inflation hit the highest point in nearly two years driven almost entirely by a price shock at the pump thanks to Trump’s war in Iran. Working families are already living paycheck to paycheck. They can’t afford a government that creates higher prices.
President Trump's illegal war is increasing the cost of gas for everyone. At a time when hardworking Americans are already struggling to afford sky-high bills, it’s now even more expensive to fill up your car and heat your home — thanks to President Trump.
First, the Trump admin hurt Social Security services by pushing out thousands of customer service personnel. Next, the admin will say it needs to slash your hard-earned benefits. We need to make more investments in Social Security—not gut it entirely!
I've fought for Make it in America my entire career. Buy American, hire American—that’s our standard. So why is foreign steel being used to build Trump’s ballroom at the White House? This is his “top priority”& he can't even prioritize American steel. American steelworkers deserve better than this.
On average, AANHPI women earn only 83¢ for every $1 earned by white men. All women deserve equal pay for equal work— @housedemocrats.bsky.social are ready to close this gap. #AANHPIEqualPay
Every year, I have the privilege of nominating qualified CT-03 students to attend a Service Academy. These institutions provide crucial education & training to our future military officers. Join us on May 6 to learn about the Service Academy application & nomination process!
I met with College & University Presidents from my district to discuss the challenges facing higher ed & their students. Their work is critical to support our future workforce & I’ll continue to fight for them amid Trump funding cuts. Thanks to Albertus for hosting us.
⚠️SCAM TEXT MESSAGE ALERT⚠️ Connecticut residents: Please beware of scam text messages impersonating the @CTDMV about unresolved traffic citations. If you receive one of these messages, delete & ignore it!
For Trump and his cabinet: luxury jets, gold plated offices, and tax cuts for their closest billionaire allies. For you: higher gas prices, higher grocery prices, higher electricity prices - the list goes on. Less for you, more for them!
The Trump administration is keeping Kristi Noem's $70 million luxury jet for use by cabinet secretaries and Melania Trump. The plane features a queen bed, showers, a kitchen, four large flat-screen TVs, and a bar.
