Iranian-Kurdish humanitarian aid worker Pakhshan Azizi is at imminent risk of execution. After being subjected to torture and solitary confinement since her arrest, she would be the first Iranian female political prisoner executed in 14 years.
The Islamic Republic must revoke her death sentence.
Trump’s executive edict to deny citizenship to those born here, a right protected for over 100 years by the 14th Amendment, reveals his desire to be unrestrained by the law.
His action is unconstitutional and is rightfully being challenged in federal court by 22 states.
These are the violent insurrectionists who received Trump‘s blessing and are now back in our communities, free to buy guns and commit more harm against anyone who does not align with their MAGA agenda.
And not a word of disapproval from House “law and order” Republicans, cowered by Trump.
These insurrectionists followed Trump’s lead, attacking 140+ officers and desecrating our Capitol. Now, they are pardoned.
As ex-officer, Michael Fanone, states, “I have been betrayed by my country...My family, my children and myself are less safe today because of Donald Trump and his supporters.”
I was working in my DC office on Jan. 6, when Trump incited a deadly insurrection to overthrow our democracy and steal the election he lost.
It’s not surprising the first convicted felon to occupy the White House would pardon the felons he inspired, including the 608 who assaulted our officers.
52 years ago, my friend & later TX state legislative colleague, Sarah Weddington, defended a woman’s right to choose as the attorney in Roe v Wade.
Outrageously, Texans today are fighting for their lives under Trump abortion bans. On this anniversary, we must recommit to the fight to #RestoreRoe.
After stacking his cabinet with anti-science conspiracy theorists, Trump orders US withdrawal from the World Health Organization, endangering our families and risking the return of polio, measles, and another pandemic.
This is consistent with Trump’s claims that only he can solve global problems.
In Trump's first term, he deliberately tore children from their mother’s arms in order to intimidate & discourage other immigrants from coming. Years later many have never reunited. After villainizing immigrants & asylum seekers with a stream of hateful lies, he is once again tearing families apart.
We should be leading the word in combating an ever worsening climate crisis. Yet, with the stroke of a pen, Trump remains in denial—again removing the US from the Paris Climate Agreement and refusing to do our part globally to protect our world from this existential threat.
Trump’s Inaugural address was ego driven, long on boasts, & short on detail. No outreach for help to Democrats or Congress. His rhetoric won’t make groceries, rent, or prescriptions more affordable. His tariff gimmick taxes American families. Delivering a speech is easy, getting results is not.
As Cecile’s family reminded us in announcing her passing, especially now, let’s join in strongly answering the question she posed, “When there was so much at stake for our country, what did you do? The only acceptable answer is “Everything we could.” (2/2)

I have chosen to join my Austin neighbors first at the Women’s March and today in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy rather than saluting an authoritarian-wanna-be, who threatens our allies, fawns over dictators, & endangers many Americans.
