Science has proven that the climate crisis is real, and our nation put in place critical rules that ensured that pollutants did not clog our air further. More than a decade later, it’s a dark day as President Trump shreds the principle that EPA relies on to eliminate climate pollution.
Yesterday, the Illinois Northern District Court upheld a law that removes debit and credit card swipe fees from the tip and tax portion of your bills. I helped limit debit card swipe fees nationwide in 2010, and I am pleased to see states like Illinois follow my lead to protect consumers.
Finally—this news is way overdue. The National Guard should’ve never been sent to Chicago or any other city. And it’s time for the Trump Administration to end its mass deportation campaign of terror.

BREAKING: The Trump Administration quietly withdraws National Guard troops from Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, in a win for the rule of law and immigrant communities.
I’m thankful for the proud Americans on this jury for upholding the rule of law and refusing to indict my fellow Senators Kelly and Slotkin. But I’m still immensely concerned. As we have seen in other cases meant to punish Trump’s enemies, his Justice Department will try again.

BREAKING: Jeanine Pirro FAILS to get grand jury to indict Sens. Kelly, Slotkin, and four House members in politically-motivated prosecution.
Higher education is one of the best investments we can make in America’s future. @duckworth.senate.gov and I met with members & leaders of the Illinois Community College Trustees Association to discuss how we can support Illinois community colleges and ensure they are accessible and affordable.
Textbook costs are an overlooked barrier to college accessibility. That’s why I’ve fought to secure $61 million in funding for the Open Textbook Pilot Program since 2018, including $7 million this year. This money bridges educational divides & ensures students get the most out of their courses.
Yesterday, I joined @warren.senate.gov to call out the Trump Administration’s dismantling of the CFPB. For 15 years, CFPB protected consumers from Wall Street and shady lending practices, saving them more than $21 billion. Congress must stand up and choose borrowers over billionaires.
A weaponized FBI raided an election center in Georgia last month… on President Trump’s order. Republicans’ response? To double down on his conspiracy theories and hold a series of EIGHT hearings to justify them.
The Trump Administration continues to disparage my colleagues who have served our nation. It’s an honor to serve with Senator Kelly and Senator Slotkin. Threatening them with punishment is an insult to service members and public servants everywhere.
When companies use foreign tax havens to avoid paying U.S. taxes, they shouldn’t be rewarded with a government contract. I introduced the American Business for American Companies Act to permanently prohibit providing federal contracts to companies that refuse to pay their fair share.
President Trump promised his immigration enforcement would go after the “worst of the worst.” But his Administration’s own data shows that is a lie. ICE is going after innocent people, just to meet the President’s cruel enforcement quotas.
BREAKING: A previously unreleased DHS memo finds that only 14% of people arrested by ICE last year had any charge or conviction for a violent offense.

I’m deeply troubled by this sentencing of Jimmy Lai and the continued incarceration of Pastor Jin Mingri and Dr. Gulshan Abbas – all of whom have already paid a heavy price on dubious charges. Their humanitarian release by China would be welcomed around the world.
BREAKING: Jimmy Lai, the pro-democracy former Hong Kong media tycoon and a fierce critic of Beijing, is sentenced to 20 years in prison in one of the most prominent cases prosecuted under a China-imposed national security law.
President Trump is pressuring state election officials to do his bidding—again. It didn’t work last time, and it can’t work this time. State election officials must hold the line and protect our right to vote.
Donald Trump posted a racist video of our former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama. It is sadly par for the course for a President who revels in his cruelty and racism. When will Republicans draw the line and call out this vile conduct?
