Yet, the President continues to recklessly threaten our allies – most recently threatening to remove the US from NATO entirely. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I’m committed to doing my part to strengthen our global alliances.
Today marks the 77th anniversary of NATO – one of the most crucial and longstanding alliances in our nation’s history. From the beginning, our NATO allies have helped advance our mutual interests at home and abroad.
From unemployment insurance and Social Security benefits to immigration issues, #TeamElfreth is here to help our neighbors on their hardest days. One of those neighbors, Ann from Annapolis, had trouble accessing her unemployment benefits, and our casework team got to work.
Each of these leaders’ commitment to public service, equity, and inclusion has strengthened Anne Arundel County for the better. A special thank you to @aacoexec.bsky.social, Caucus of African American Leaders, and the Planning Committee for organizing such a special event!
What gives me hope in a challenging Congress are the local leaders on the ground who help our neighbors during these difficult times. This week, I had a chance to help honor 30 of those incredible leaders at the Few of Many and Michelle Obama Awards ceremonies.
A budget is a statement of values. Today, as our neighbors face rising costs and a worsening affordability crisis, the President announced a budget that slashes the very health care, education, and housing programs Marylanders rely on to make ends meet.
There’s truly no better way to start the season than enjoying fantastic oyster dishes from local restaurants, the oyster shucking competition, and most importantly, carrying on our lovely local traditions.
Every year for more than 50 years, the Annapolis Maritime Museum has hosted this event for neighbors to come together and celebrate the end of winter with great food, live music, and by letting go of those winter necessities we no longer need – including burning our winter socks over a bonfire!
And yet, I've seen limited courage from my Republican colleagues to hold this Administration accountable. The American people deserve answers – and if the White House won’t provide them – Congress must act.
