As the only Marylander on a defense committee, I joined President of the Fort Meade Alliance, Roxanne Wood, and Corporate Vice President and President of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, Roshan Roeder to provide an update from Washington, discuss ongoing challenges at our installations, and more.
Almost 20 years ago in the Odenton Library, a few committed individuals came together to build the Fort Meade Alliance – and that alliance continues to support the economic growth and national security interests of Fort Meade and the region to this day.
Generations of Americans fought to give all our neighbors the fundamental right to vote. We will not go back.
More than 140 million Americans don't have passports, and nearly 70 million women who took their spouse’s name have invalid birth certificates. I voted NO on the SAVE Act last year, and I voted NO on the SAVE America Act this week.
Do you remember the SAVE Act? It’s back on the House floor, and worse than before. The new SAVE America Act would require voters to provide a birth certificate or passport as proof of citizenship AND it would force states to turn over private voter data to the Department of Homeland Security.
BREAKING: Six Republicans just joined House Democrats to end the President’s chaotic & reckless tariffs on Canada. There isn’t a lot of good news to share from the House floor, but this is a really important win for small business owners, our local economy, & our neighbors facing skyrocketing costs.
As this Administration continues to attack our civil service – just last week finalizing a rule that would allow the firing of nearly 50,000 federal workers – we will continue to fight for our hard-working federal employees.
I’m so grateful I could speak at the AFGE Congressional and DC Council Breakfast yesterday to thank them for their partnership and steadfast work upholding collective bargaining rights and leaning in during these difficult times.
In Congress, we’ve worked together on bipartisan legislation to push back on the sledgehammer of DOGE, protect federal workers during government shutdowns, discharge & pass a Resolution turning back the President’s unprecedented Executive Order eliminating 60 years of collective bargaining, & more.
Representing over 45,000 federal workers, AFGE has been one of my closest partners on the Hill.
As the chaos in Washington sows division, I’m so proud that Howard County and Howard County Executive Calvin Ball are continuing to come together to proudly celebrate the cultures that make our communities so special. May the Year of the Fire Horse bring you growth and new opportunity!
Happy Year of the Fire Horse! Howard County outdid themselves with this year’s Lunar New Year celebration – featuring lion dances from the Taiwanese American Association and other incredible cultural displays by the vibrant Howard County AAPI community!🧧
I’ve already signed on to articles of impeachment for Secretary Noem for facilitating the weaponization of ICE against our communities, I voted NO on funding for ICE, & I will continue to demand oversight & accountability to ensure the safety of our neighbors & put an end to this horrific pattern.
The recent tragedies in Minnesota are not isolated incidents – they are part of a larger deadly pattern. Last year, 25 people died in ICE custody – and in January of this year alone, 8 people have died in ICE custody.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I worked closely with APG’s Army Alliance on last year’s NDAA, & I look forward to continuing to collaborate with Army Alliance & its representatives as we kick off this year’s NDAA process & find ways to support the Maryland defense community.
I sat down with Harford County Executive (and my former Maryland Senate colleague!) Bob Cassilly and Chair Larry Muzzello to strategize ways to improve critical water and wastewater infrastructure, support small businesses, and further advance research and development.
Founded in 1999, the Army Alliance of Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) has helped advance APG’s national security interests and economic role in the region by supporting crucial programming, research, and development initiatives.
Justice delayed is justice denied. Attorney General Bondi must comply with the law and finish releasing these files. The public deserves answers, and the survivors deserve justice.
It has been 53 days since Attorney General Pam Bondi was required to release the Epstein files under the bipartisan Epstein Files Transparency Act. The DOJ has only released an estimated half of the files, with many of them heavily redacted.
