I’ll always stand up for our federal workforce, and this endorsement is a major step forward in safeguarding the rights of our hard-working federal employees against the chaos of Washington.

Our neighbors in Maryland were acutely and disproportionately impacted by the government shutdown and were hit hard by DOGE’s sledgehammer.
UPDATE: the @laborcaucus.house.gov has officially endorsed the Shutdown Student Loans for Feds Act that @alsobrooks.senate.gov and I introduced to help federal workers make ends meet during government shutdowns!
Tours are one very special part of the job – especially seeing students experience the Capitol for the first time – so if you’re interested in a tour in the new year, please give us a call at (202) 225-4016 or visit elfreth.house.gov/address_authentication?form=/services/tours-and-tickets
From casework requests to tours of the Capitol, my team is here to help you any way we can. This past year, my team and I booked 806 tours in Washington, D.C. for more than 3,800 visitors.
But the fight is not over. Right before the holidays, House Democrats secured a vote to extend the tax credits. I will work with my colleagues to not only reduce health care premiums, but find solutions to solve the health care crisis that too many of our neighbors are facing. Stay tuned for more.
I’ve heard from so many friends & neighbors this holiday season who are shocked by skyrocketing health insurance rates for 2026. Millions of Americans – including 190,000+ Marylanders – are seeing their premiums spike now that Republican leaders in Congress let the crucial ACA tax credits expire.
These programs were government at its best. Because at its core, government has an obligation to ensure the safety of our constituents, protect the common good, and uphold our obligation to those who run towards burning buildings to keep all of us safe.
Amidst DOGE’s cuts, I’ve been outspoken in my support for the Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation Program and the National Cancer Firefighter Registry, which investigate line of duty deaths and track cancer cases: the leading cause of death for our firefighters.
Our firefighters and first responders keep our families safe on their hardest days. Last month, I joined my @laborcaucus.house.gov colleagues to meet with IAFF President Edward Kelly to discuss how we can continue supporting our firefighters here in Maryland and across the country.
The President’s unilateral overnight strikes on Venezuela were reckless, destabilizing, and endangered our servicemembers. See below for my full statement:
I will work with my colleagues on the House Armed Services Committee to get the American people the answers we deserve.
The American people do not want another regime change war. President Trump does not have any form of Congressional approval for this strike, which raises serious questions about the legality of the attack. Congress must reassert our authority and conduct extensive oversight.
If you ever think that we might be able to be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out and give us a call at (410) 832 - 8890.
My team and I are here to help you on your hardest days – whether that’s help with your Social Security benefits, a tax return, or a VA claim. This past year, my team and I helped resolve 1,078 cases and returned $873,292 directly to constituents!
This next year is sure to present its own ups and downs, but my team and I are committed to working with community partners and colleagues across the aisle to find solutions for you every chance we get.
But before I turn to the film’s epic opening line of "I believe in America,” I wanted to acknowledge the challenges of the last year and the opportunities we have ahead. I am so excited to hit the ground running and work together to deliver more results for families who call the Third District home.
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and a great time ringing in 2026! I’ll be spending today as I always do: cooking a big pot of pasta e fagioli for my loved ones and settling in for a Godfather movie marathon (don’t worry, we skip III).
House Democrats are committed to finding actual solutions to the affordability crisis too many hardworking Americans are facing.
The cost of housing, groceries, childcare, healthcare, and electricity are hitting Americans in every community across the country. In 2026, Congress needs to come together to deliver real affordability solutions.
